Patent number: 7458393Abstract: A control valve for regulating flow of fluids has an actuator located in a control chamber connected to a valve body. The valve body defines a flow passageway passing through an opening. A plug is associated with the actuator such that movement of the actuator from a retracted position towards an extended position displaces the plug towards the opening. The valve also includes a guide-and-seat insert which provides a valve seat interconnected with an attachment collar via a number of plug guides. When the plug is displaced by the actuator, the plug slides in contact with at least two of the plug guides. When the actuator moves to its extended position, the plug closes against the closure surface of the valve seat so as to block the passage of fluid from an inlet to an outlet of the valve.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2006Date of Patent: December 2, 2008Assignee: Bermad CS, LtdInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 7455279Abstract: The dual actuator valve of the present invention deploys both the primary and secondary actuator elements in a single, common control chamber. Therefore, the present invention provides a dual actuator valve having dimensions that are the same as, or similar to, the dimensions of a single actuator control valve. It will be appreciated that the actuator elements may be of diaphragm type or piston type actuator elements. The primary actuator element is mechanically linked to the valve plug and regulates the flow though the valve, while the secondary actuator element remains in a fully open position. Should the primary actuator element fail to operate the valve due, for example, to diaphragm rupture, failure of the primary control system, or any other reason, the secondary control system activates the secondary actuator element, which then effects movement of the primary actuator element thereby resuming flow regulation or closure of the valve as necessary.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 2005Date of Patent: November 25, 2008Assignee: Bermad CS, LtdInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 7398955Abstract: The valve seat of the present invention is configured for attachment to the valve housing after the valve housing has been coated with a protective coating. The valve seat is configured to grip the valve housing, thereby providing a secure attachment. In its simplest form, the valve seat and the valve housing are both configured with corresponding locking-ring grooves, and a locking-ring element is positioned so as to be at least partially deployed in both the valve seat locking-ring groove and the valve housing locking-ring groove simultaneously. It will be appreciated that the features of the present invention may be used to benefit with substantially any type and style of valve known in the art.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2005Date of Patent: July 15, 2008Assignee: Bermad Limited PartnershipInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 7124774Abstract: A control valve for regulating flow of fluids passing through the valve. The control valve includes a body with an inlet, an outlet and a passageway through which the fluid passes from the inlet to the outlet. The control valve also includes a displaceable column provided with an internal and concentric bolt, the displaceable column is actuated by an actuator, the actuator positioned in a chamber that is connected to the body, a valve closure attached to the displaceable column. The displaceable column moves between a most retracted position, in which the inlet is fluidically communicating with the outlet, and a most pulled out position, in which the valve closure sealingly blocks the passage of fluid through the control valve.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2002Date of Patent: October 24, 2006Assignee: Bermad Limited PartnershipInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 6976668Abstract: The present invention provides an improved diaphragm control valve with a simplified construction that has significant advantages over prior art diaphragm control valves. Further, the present invention provides substantially straight-through fluid flow which enables a high flow capacity with minimal pressure loss. The non-planar diaphragm of the present invention, when standing in a non-stressed state, is substantially an annulus that assumes a shape with a cross section that extends from a first attachment bead substantially radially in a first direction through a first curve continues substantially non-radially in a second direction through a second curve and continues in a substantially radial direction terminating in a second attachment bead, such that the diaphragm does not fold back on itself. That is to say, the diaphragm is both axially non-overlapping and rotationally symmetrical.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2002Date of Patent: December 20, 2005Assignee: BermadInventor: Zvi Weingarten

Patent number: 5464064Abstract: This disclosure relates to a valve including a valve member having: a predetermined surface area on its inlet side exposed to the inlet pressure to produce a force tending to move the valve member to an open position; a larger surface area on its opposite, control side exposed to the inlet pressure to produce a larger force tending to move the valve member to its closed position; a passageway through the valve member; a restrictor orifice in the passageway; and a one-way valve in the passageway permitting fluid flow only from the inlet side to the control side of the valve member, to prevent unintentional opening of the valve member in the event of a drop in the inlet pressure followed by the resumption of the inlet pressure.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 1993Date of Patent: November 7, 1995Assignee: BermadInventor: Zvi Weingarten
