Abstract: A contaminant precipitating composition and method are disclosed. The composition comprises a water soluble, branched, polydithiocarbamic acid salt effective for the purpose of precipitating contaminants from an aqueous solution. The method comprises adding an amount of the composition effective for the purpose to the aqueous solution so as to complex, precipitate and remove contaminants from the aqueous solution.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for increasing the retention on a washing/thickening device in an aqueous papermaking system. The method generally comprises adding to the furnish solids of the system an effective amount of a cationic polyacrylamide polymer.

Abstract: A polymer and method of controlling corrosion and the formation and deposition of scale imparting compounds in water systems is disclosed. Abstract: Methods and compositions are provided for cleaning and inhibiting the formation of fouling deposits on jet engine components during the combustion of turbine combustion fuel oils. Methods and compositions are also provided for inhibiting the formation and emission of soot and smoke from jet engine exhaust during turbine combustion fuel oil combustion. The methods employ a derivative of (thio)phosphonic acid added to the turbine combustion fuel oil. The preferred derivative is pentaerythritol ester of polyisobutenylthiophosphonic acid.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for using tracers to monitor industrial process equipment to which liquid is added and from which liquid is removed. In preferred embodiments, the methods are directed to detecting water leakage in a boiler in which an aqueous temperature control liquid is supplemented with feedwater at a known or unknown rate and is removed as blowdown at a known rate. The methods include determining the blowdown removal rate, adding a tracer to the temperature control liquid at a rate that is directly proportional to the blowdown removal rate, analyzing the blowdown to determine the measured concentration of tracer contained therein, deriving an expected concentration of tracer in the blowdown, and comparing the measured and expected concentrations to detect excessive variance between them.

The apparatus prevents accidental drainage of the liquid dispensing container by the pump and eliminates personnel hazards associated with manual transfers of liquids from dispensing containers to receptacles.

Abstract: Compositions and methods of using the compositions to inhibit oxygen induced corrosion of metal exposed to aqueous solutions are disclosed. The compositions include hydroxybenzoic acid in formulations with imidazoline, heavy aromatic naphtha, polymerized tall oil fatty acid, alkanols, dimer trimer acids, alkanoic acid, alkanediols, and water.
