Patent number: 11377790Abstract: Method for extraction of biomass with water in order to separate hemicelluloses from a fibrous structure. The biomass is impregnated under reduced pressure with the extraction fluid in order to prevent the degradation of the components to be extracted. During extraction the extract is circulated through the fiber matrix in order to remove unwanted components from the extract. The extract is reused for extracting untreated biomass in order to increase the consistency of the extract.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2020Date of Patent: July 5, 2022Assignee: CH-Bioforce OyInventor: Sebastian Von Schoultz

Patent number: 11046790Abstract: This invention describes a method for the purification of a hemicellulose extract produced for example through hot water extraction. Such extracts often contain large amounts of colloidal material which primarily consists of lignin and other phenolic compounds. These colloidal particles clog equipment such as ultrafiltration membranes, which deem the use of such equipment almost impossible. The unwanted material is very tacky at temperatures between 70 and 120° C. which makes it possible to adsorb it onto a variety of materials. Further, by using an adsorbing material that is wholly or partly contaminated with chemically alike material the purification process is greatly enhanced.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2017Date of Patent: June 29, 2021Assignee: CH-Bioforce OyInventors: Lari Vähäsalo, Nicholas Lax, Sebastian Von Schoultz

Patent number: 11001777Abstract: Increasing of the heating value of combustible biomass through hemicellulose extraction and subsequent press-drying is described. After hemicellulose extraction the remaining biomass is soft and easily press-dried to high dry content of up to 80%. The method involves the removal of most water binding hemicelluloses and retaining most of the lignin in the biomass. Lignin can either be retained in the biomass during the extraction or combining the lignin, which has been separated from the hemicellulose extract, with the extracted biomass.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2017Date of Patent: May 11, 2021Assignee: CH-Bioforce OyInventors: Lari Vähäsalo, Nicholas Lax, Sebastian Von Schoultz

Publication number: 20210032542Abstract: The techniques introduced here include a system and method for efficiently, and in some embodiments automatically, processing solid organic waste. In both the method and the system the solid organic waste is injected into a rotating, thermally isolable, container with internal sensors that help in keeping humidity and temperature within given parameters, before the resulting dried solid organic waste is sent to a pyrolysis chamber and its exhausts are sent to filter. In some embodiments, inert material in the form of dried solid organic waste is left in the container in order to make the process even more efficient and system and process are made automatic and remotely controllable through the use of software automation and a web of internal and external sensors.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 28, 2018Publication date: February 4, 2021Applicant: BioForceInventors: Darfio PRESEZZI, Valentino VILLA, Marco MOSCIARELLO, Stefano PESSINA, Mattia BONFANTI

Patent number: 10701266Abstract: A method is provided for reading out contents of a video file having a predefined video file format. The contents include video frames of an object in motion captured by a video recording device, and motion data of an object collected by an inertial measurement unit (IMU) that is attached to the object. The motion data is stored as metadata in one or more time intervals of the video file. Parsing instructions are stored in a computer memory. The parsing instructions indicate how the metadata is parsed into motion data for one or more video frames that are associated with the respective motion data. The contents of the video file are read out using the stored parsing instructions, thereby identifying specific video frames with their respective correlated motion data.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2019Date of Patent: June 30, 2020Assignee: BioForce Analytics LLCInventors: Eric L.
