Abstract: Technology is disclosed for facilitating and processing cross-merchant promotions. In examples, the disclosed technology comprises identifying a first merchant and a second merchant as complementary merchants based at least in part on first transaction data associated with a plurality of merchants; generating a recommendation for the first and second merchants to participate in a cross-merchant promotion; receiving an indication that the first merchant and the second merchant intend to participate in the cross-merchant promotion; receiving second transaction data for a second transaction of the first merchant; applying the cross-merchant promotion to the second transaction based at least in part on a payment card number offered for payment in the second transaction; processing payment for the second transaction based at least in part on the cross-merchant promotion; and apportioning the payment between the first and second merchant according to an agreement between them.

Abstract: A recommendation system is described, which is configured to generate and output a recommendation for an artist, an artist's authorized agent, or combinations thereof, regarding an action to perform for increasing consumption of media content items associated with the artist. In implementations, consumption of one or more media content items associated with an artist is monitored. Based on the monitored consumption, the artist is assigned to an artist segment. Recommendations are then generated for the artist based on artist data for the artist as well as historical data associated with different artists that are included in the same artist segment or that were previously associated with the same artist segment. A user interface is generated to display information describing data associated with the artist and present controls that are selectable to initiate performance of a recommended action.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to method for facilitating a transaction between a service provider and a customer using an online payment platform. The method includes receiving a request from a customer's device to enter into a transaction with a service provider and receiving a request from a service provider's device to process a cardless payment transaction for the transaction. The method further includes determining a tipping process to be applied to the transaction whereby an automatically determined tip amount or a manually determined tip amount is added to the transaction. The processing of the transaction is delayed until the automatically determined or the manual tip amount is added to the transaction. The cardless payment including the tip amount is then processed and a confirmation thereof is communicated to the respective devices of the customer and the service provider.

Abstract: A blockchain agnostic token network is described. In an example, a request to purchase a non-fungible token (NFT) minted on a blockchain from a seller is received. Based at least in part on context data associated with at least one of the user, the seller, or a digital asset associated with the NFT, a plurality of available blockchains is determined for holding the NFT. Information associated with the plurality of blockchains is surfaced and one of the plurality of blockchains is determined for holding the NFT. Based at least in part on the determined blockchain, the NFT is transferred to the determined blockchain and associated with a user account for subsequent viewing.

Abstract: Described is a technology that enables a customer, who uses a payment card in a transaction and further provides an identifier in the same transaction, to use the identifier as a payment mechanism in future transactions. In some embodiments, the technology involves communication between a customer's user device, a payment service system (PSS), and one or more merchant point-of-sale (POS) systems. A merchant POS system collects information in a transaction between the merchant POS system and the customer, including the customer's contact information (e.g., telephone number), and forwards this information to the PSS. The PSS stores the information as an identifier, and the identifier is stored in association with the payment card. In a second transaction, the PSS sends a verification request to the user device based on the identifier (e.g., a text message), and processes the transaction upon confirmation from the customer.

Abstract: Technologies are described herein for media content recommendations. For example, a method of media content recommendations may include generating, by a plurality of machine learning algorithms, a first set of media content recommendations, a second set of media content recommendations, and a third set of media content recommendations. The method may also include generating a first playlist based on the first set of media content recommendations and the second set of media content recommendations, generating a second playlist based on the second set of media content recommendations and the third set of media content recommendations, and providing the first playlist and the second playlist to at least one of the one or more media applications.

Abstract: The disclosure describes, in part, techniques for performing pre-authorization during a transaction between a merchant a customer. For instance, a payment service may receive, from a merchant device, payment information of a payment instrument that is used to satisfy a cost of a first item. The payment service may then send an authorization request to a card payment network to hold a first amount of funds based on previous purchase activity. The payment service may further send the merchant device information associated with the customer. Next, the payment service may receive an indication that the customer requests to purchase a second item. In response, the payment service may send a request to the card payment network to capture a second amount of funds that is based on the cost of the first item and a cost of the second item. In response, the payment service may receive approval from the card payment network.

Abstract: A wireless communication device such as a payment reader has a wireless communication interface and is able to establish wireless pairing with an interactive electronic device such as a merchant device running a point of sale application. In order to establish pairing, the wireless communication device accesses an identifier. The identifier is transmitted to the interactive electronic device via the wireless communication interface, and the interactive electronic device sends the identifier to a pairing server. The pairing server retrieves a passkey based on the identifier and sends the retrieved passkey to the interactive electronic device via a secure connection. The wireless communication device and the interactive electronic device establish wireless pairing based on the retrieved passkey.

Abstract: Integrating buyer and/or merchant functionality with discoverable applications is described. In an example, applications associated with a service provider can be stored in a repository associated with the service provider. At least a part of an application of the applications is associated with a particular, discrete functionality. The service provider can determine context data associated with a user computing device and can select, based at least in part on the context data, the application from the applications, wherein at least the part of the application is to be surfaced on the user computing device. The service provider can cause a user interface associated with at least the part of the application to be presented via the user computing device, wherein the user interface enables a user of the user computing device to input data for enabling the particular, discrete functionality, and wherein a portion of the context data is used to customize the user interface for the user.

Abstract: Intelligent subscription identification using transaction data is described. In an example, first transaction data associated with first transactions between a customer and a plurality of merchants is received, first payments associated with the first transaction data are processed, and second transaction data associated with a second transaction between the customer and a merchant is received. Determinations are made, based on the first transaction data and the second transaction data, that the customer purchased a first item at a first time, and based on the second transaction data, that the customer purchased a second item at a second time. A determination is made that the customer is eligible for a subscription, a recommendation of an offer for the subscription is presented to the customer, the subscription is associated with a profile of the customer, and a second payment associated with the second transaction data is processed.

Abstract: A consumer terminal for a point-of-sale (POS) system used in performing a POS transaction between a merchant and a consumer. The consumer terminal includes a touch screen display having a touch panel, a secure processor in a physically secure area and a main processor in a non-secure area. The main processor is configured to display a series of screens to guide a consumer through the POS transaction. Upon receiving a request for secure data from the main processor, the secure processor instructs the main processor to exit pass-through mode and enter a secure touch mode. Upon a determination that the request for secure data is complete, the secure processor instructs the main processor to exit secure touch mode and return to pass-through mode.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for embedded card reader security include configuring a personal account number (PAN) application installed on a device to utilize an embedded card reader (ECR) and receiving, at the PAN application and based at least in part on an interaction between the ECR and the device, a PAN for a transaction. The PAN may be sent to a payment processing service and a personal identification number (PIN) application may render a PIN user interface. The PIN may be received at the PIN application and sent to the payment processing service. The transaction may be completed based at least in part on an indication from the payment processing service that the PAN and the PIN have been accepted.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems for using a resource locator and customer identifier to identify transactions associated with certain characteristics. An example method comprises monitoring transaction data and storing it within a database. Transaction data associated with a customer is stored at a storage location within the database, and the storage location is associated with an identifier and accessible via a resource locator. A request is received that is associated with purchase activity of the customer and specifies a time period and transaction characteristics(s). It is determined that that the request is associated with the identifier. Based at least in part on the identifier and the transaction data associated with the customer, transaction(s) of the customer occurring within the time period and including the characteristic(s) are identified.

Abstract: A wearable device, such as a finger ring worn by a user, communicates information about a user to a reader that uses the information in order to perform a transaction. Such wearable device may be conveniently carried by and accessible to the user such that utilization of the device for the transaction is less burdensome for the user, thereby encouraging use of the device for particular transactions. Indeed, in some cases, such as when the device is implemented as a finger ring or other type of jewelry, the user may be encouraged to carry the device in an exposed manner such that it is readily available for the transaction without the user having to search in a wallet, pocket, or purse for the device.

Abstract: Techniques disclosed include systems and methods including, in association with a transaction between a first payer and a payee, determining a second payer that is associated with the transaction. Techniques include receiving specification of a portion of a payment amount associated with the transaction to be requested from the second payer. Techniques include, upon receiving an indication from the first payer to request payment of the portion of the payment amount from the second payer, transmitting an identifier associated with the second payer and the specified portion of the payment amount to a remote server. The remote server can be configured to transmit a request to a second mobile device associated with the second payer to permit a transfer of the portion of the payment amount from the financial account of the second payer in association with the transaction.

Abstract: A blockchain agnostic token network is described. In an example, a request to purchase a non-fungible token (NFT) minted on a blockchain from a seller is received. Based at least in part on context data associated with at least one of the user, the seller, or a digital asset associated with the NFT, a plurality of available blockchains is determined for holding the NFT. Information associated with the plurality of blockchains is surfaced and one of the plurality of blockchains is determined for holding the NFT. Based at least in part on the determined blockchain, the NFT is transferred to the determined blockchain and associated with a user account for subsequent viewing.

Abstract: Notifying customers of available efficiencies via updates to electronic menus, personal notifications, etc. is described herein. As an example, a computing system can receive a first request indicating that an item that is offered for sale by a merchant that has been requested by a customer and can determine an efficiency associated with combining the first request with a second request from another customer. Such an efficiency, for example, can comprise sharing an item on a menu or preparing multiple items together instead of individually. The computing system can notify, in near real-time and based at least partly on determining the efficiency associated with combining the first request and the second request, at least the other customer about the efficiency. In some examples, the other customer can be notified via an update to the electronic menu, a personal notification to a user computing device, etc.

Abstract: The present technology pertains to managing a sample of a media item using a non-fungible token (NFT) and an associated smart contract. The present technology includes identifying a portion of the media item as a sample, and creating an NFT referencing assignment of a right associated with the sample of the media item. The NFT has an associated smart contract defining a condition upon satisfaction of which the right associated with the sample will be assigned. The present technology may also include identifying market data of the media item, where the market data includes at least one of a list price and historical sales volume for the media item, and identifying charts data, critical review scores, and social media interaction with the media items. The market data can be used to determine a spot price for the sample of the media item.

Abstract: A payment service generates multiple user profiles, each profile associated with a different user. Each user profile is linked to at least one transaction instrument and one or more balances. A first user profile can send a payment instrument to a second user, where a balance of the payment instrument is associated with a profile of the second user and the second user's payment instrument. Rules defining how different balances of a user profile are used to facilitate processing of a transaction made using a transaction instrument are stored to the user profile. In response to receiving a request to use the transaction instrument for a transaction, the transaction rules are applied to selectively use different balances of the user profile based on information about the transaction.

Abstract: In one embodiment, techniques include receiving, by a computing device associated with a payment service system, a request to create a blockchain-enforced contract corresponding to a new transaction between a merchant and a customer. Techniques include generating, based on analysis using machine-learned models of a transaction history associated with the merchant, a condition of the blockchain-enforced contract requisite for completion of the new transaction. Techniques includes generating the blockchain-enforced contract including the condition. Techniques include providing the blockchain-enforced contract to nodes in a blockchain network. Techniques include creating a blockchain transaction addressed to the blockchain-enforced contract and including information regarding the condition. Techniques include providing the blockchain transaction to the nodes. Techniques include receiving confirmation that the nodes have validated the blockchain transaction.
