A horizontal alignment layer having a rubbing axis is interposed between the lower substrate and the liquid crystal layer, and a vertical alignment layer is interposed between the upper substrate and the liquid crystal layer. In addition, a polarizer is disposed on an outer surface of the upper substrate and having a polarizing axis.
