  • Patent number: 5156947
Abstract: This invention teaches a process for reducing protein matrix effects in assays for serum fructosamine. Blood or blood derived samples are used, and one adds two reagents, one of which reduces interference caused by non-specific reducing substances, the other of which eliminates turbidity. Incubation follows, and then the pH of the sample is adjusted and color forming reagent is added. In one embodiment, the incubation time is only 1-15 minutes. In another embodiment, the first reagent contains peroxidase.

  • Patent number: 5149272
Abstract: Novel reagent compositions and an assay method for the measurement of total and direct bilirubin are disclosed. The reagent compositions comprise an aqueous solution of at least one betaine selected from the group of alkyl betaine, betaine and betaine hydrate, a sulfanilamide diazonium salt, iodide ions and sulfamic acid. In the measurement of total bilirubin, alkyl betaine serves as an accelerator/solubilizer for the reaction of unconjugated bilirubin, and the alkyl betaine, betaine or betaine hydrate, together with iodide ions, minimizes or substantially eliminates interference from hemoglobin and lipemia.

  • Patent number: 5147405
Abstract: A knee prosthesis is provided including a tibial component having first and second generally concave bearing surfaces and a stabilizing post extending upwardly between the first and second bearing surfaces. The knee prosthesis also includes a femoral component having first and second spaced apart, convexly curved condyle bearing surfaces and a cam surface extending between the first and second bearing surfaces. The femoral component is articulatable with the tibial component between an extended position and a flexed position. The first and second femoral bearing surfaces engage the first and second tibial bearing surfaces, respectively, at first and second contact points. Between the extended position and about a 25.degree. flexion angle, the cam surface is spaced apart from a posterior side wall of the stabilizing post to permit movement of the femoral and tibial component as natural physiology dictates. As the knee prosthesis is flexed at about a 25.degree.

  • Patent number: 5122244
Abstract: The subject matter of the invention is a method for the electrochemical determination of an analyte in the presence of an oxidoreductase and a reducible substance which transfers electrons which arise during the course of the determination reaction from the oxidoreductase onto an electrode and thus leads to a signal which is a measure for the analyte to be determined whereby the reducible substance is enzymatically reduced and oxidized at the electrode, which is characterized in that the substance which forms at the electrode by oxidation is different from the reducible substance used initially, as well as a corresponding sensor electrode system and the use of compounds suitable therefor. Finally new nitrosoaniline derivatives and a process for their production are also subject matter of the invention.
