Abstract: A cross-coupling synthesis of 2-alkyl-4-(2,6-dialkylphenyl)indenes is described. A 2-alkylidene is treated with a dialkylboronic acid in the presence of a catalyst. A feature of the invention is the use of a cross-coupling catalyst comprising palladium dichloride (1,5-cyclooctadiene) as a cross-coupling catalyst.
Abstract: Synthesis of 2,6-dicarbonylpyridines in solution in a hydrocarbon medium is described. The solutions of 2,6-dicarbonylpyridines may be used directly in further syntheses.
Abstract: A process for preparing a cyclopentadienyl or indenyl ruthenium complex by treatment of a cyclopentadienyl or indenyl compound with ruthenium trichloride dihydrate and magnesium powder in an alkanol at 10° C. to −30° C. is described.

Abstract: Novel 2-substituted 7-haloindenes and methods for synthesizing such indenes are described. The 2-substituted 7-haloindenes may be coupled with any aryl group to produce a metallocene catalyst intermediate.
Abstract: A method for producing 1,2-bis(indenyl)ethanes in good yield is described. An agent and its application for isomerizing kinetic EBI to thermodynamic EBI and for isomerizing meso TMS-EBI to rac TMS-EBI are exemplified.
Abstract: A novel constrained geometry titanium(II) diene complex and ligands of such complexes are described. The novel complex has an olefin polymerization activity substantially in excess of a defined activity standard characteristic of analogous prior art constrained geometry diene complexes. Methods for the synthesis of the novel, high-activity complexes are described.

Abstract: A method for synthesizing tetramethylcyclopentadiene from 2,3-dibromobutane is described. A 2-bromo-2-butene Grignard is reacted with an ethyl formate to produce a 3,5-dimethyl-2,5-heptadiene-4-ol magnesium bromide which is then quenched with acetic acid to produce 3,5-dimethyl-2,5-hepadiene-4-ol.
