Abstract: A method for producing 1,2-bis(indenyl)ethanes in good yield is described. An agent and its application for isomerizing kinetic EBI to thermodynamic EBI and for isomerizing meso TMS-EBI to rac TMS-EBI are exemplified.
Abstract: The reduction of a titanium tetrahalide with titanium in the presence of an ether which forms an adduct with titanium trihalide, wherein an adduct insoluble in said ether is produced.
Abstract: 2-alkyl-4-(2,6-dialkylphenyl) indenes, methods for the synthesis thereof, methods for converting such indenes to bridged metallocene ligands, methods for converting such ligands to bridged metallocenes and olefin polymerization processes in which such metallocenes are used as a catalyst or as a component of a catalyst system are described.

Abstract: Pentafluorophenyl Grignard reagents are reacted with a boron trihalide in a non-ethereal solvent such as toluene to produce a tetrakis pentafluorophenyl borate magnesium halide.
Abstract: A method for synthesizing an alkyl-2-one by reacting a 2-alkene halide with a 2,4-alkanedione in an alkylene glycol medium having a boiling point higher than said alkene-2-one is described.
Abstract: A method for the preparation of titanium-containing metallocene compounds, including constrained geometry titanium complexes, useful as olefin polymerization catalysts is disclosed. Pursuant to the invention, titanium tetrachloride is converted to titanium trichloride by reaction with a metal compound in a non-interfering solvent to produce a mixture useful directly for reaction with a deprotonated metallocene ligand. The titanocene compounds produced pursuant to the invention are free of trace amounts of aluminum which can adversely affect the polymerization reaction.
Abstract: A method for producing an alkyl cyclopentadiene by reacting cyclopentadienyl Grignard with an alkyl halide and for converting the alkyl cyclopentadiene to a bis(n-alkyl cyclopentadienyl) Group IV metal dihalide is described.

Abstract: A method of converting Compound A (1,3-dehydro-cyclopenta[1]phenanthren-2-one) to Compound C (1H-cyclopenta[1]penanthren) in situ in a single reactor is disclosed.
Abstract: Production of aryl cyclopentadienyl Group IVA metal dihalides by dehydrogenation of a substituted or unsubstituted bis-(cyclohexenylcyclopentadienyl) Group IVA metal dihalide is described.
Abstract: A process for preparing tetrakis (pentafluorophenyl) borate is described that involves reaction of a pentafluorophenyl magnesium halide with an alkali metal tetrafluoroborate.
Abstract: Novel silanes having the formula (RSO.sub.3).sub.2 --Si--Q.sub.2.0.5HX are described. Synthesis of silylated bis-cyclopentadienyl and N-silylated mono(cyclopentadienyl) ligands and similar indenyl ligands utilizing the novel silanes is described.
Abstract: Novel 2-substituted 7-haloindenes and methods for synthesizing such indents are described. The 2-substituted 7-haloindenes may be coupled with any aryl group to produce a metallocene catalyst intermediate.
Abstract: A process and a system for cracking dicyclopentadiene are disclosed pursuant to the process preheated dicyclopentadiene is introduced into a heated transfer fluid sufficiently below the transfer fluid surface to accomplish substantially complete conversion of said dicyclopentadiene to monomeric cyclopentadiene vapor.
Abstract: A method for producing dialkylsilyl (2-alkyl-4-aryl indenyl) titanocenes including rac-Me.sub.2 Si(2-methyl-4-phenylindenyl)-titanium dichloride is described.
Abstract: Novel 2-substituted 7-haloindenes and methods for synthesizing such indenes are described. The 2-substituted 7-haloindenes may be coupled with any aryl group to produce a metallocene catalyst intermediate.
