    Abstract: A snap lock assembly that comprises a bolt or a cable which can be extended through hasps and which has a locking portion formed with a plurality of parallel spaced grooves that are receivable in a cylindrical member that has a plurality of snap rings spaced therein at distances which correspond to the distance between the grooves so that the seal can be locked in a number of positions as the bolt is moved into the cylindrical member, but the bolt cannot be removed from the cylindrical member due to the camming action of the cylindrical member on the plurality of snap rings in the grooves.

    Abstract: Cable locking and sealing device which has a body member to which one end of a cable can be attached with the other end free to pass through a hasp or other device to be sealed or locked and in which the free end can then be inserted into the body member and can be freely moved in a first direction into the body member but which is clamped so that it cannot be removed from the body member in a second direction. Within the body member there is provided an inclined ramp at a small angle formed with a plurality of gear teeth and a locking gear formed with gear teeth which mate with the gear teeth on the rack and is movable along the ramp so as to lock the second end of the cable to the body member when force is exerted on it to remove it from the body member.

Pulling upon the unlocked handle retracts the bolt from the receiver and also causes the door to start opening.

    Abstract: A novel locking means comprising a tube which is squeezed flat so as to cease a flexible cable and wherein identification of the seal can be printed on the flatted portion with a transverse opening formed through the tube through which the free end of the flexible cable can be passed so as to be locked by a set screw threadedly received in the end of the tube and wherein the end of the set screw is reduced in cross-section so that it will break off to provide a seal that cannot be opened without cutting the cable and destroying the integrity of the seal. A second embodiment comprises a bolt with a threaded cylindrical nut formed with a transverse opening into which a set screw can be received so as to lock the bolt in the cylindrical member by engaging a reduced cross-section of the bolt and wherein the set screw also has a reduced cross-sectional portion so that it will break off when the set screw is tightened.

    Abstract: An adjustable retainer for use simultaneously with various widths of cargo has four identical retainer sections, a first and a second section being disposed along the length of one side of a cargo carrying vehicle and a third and a fourth being disposed along the opposite side of the vehicle such that the first and the fourth retainer sections are opposite each other. Each retainer section is composed of a series of parallel flat elongated members each having a first and second end. Each first end of each flat member is pivotably fastened to the floor at the side wall of the vehicle. Each second end of each flat member is pivotably attached to a long angle member which in turn is attached to a long hollow cylindrical member. The hollow cylindrical members of each of the four retainer members may be positioned adjacent to the cargo. A pair of spanner bars each having two pivotal connections joins the first and the second retainer sections and the third and the fourth retainer sections.

    Abstract: Apparatus that is used to expand a collapsed hollow core of a damaged roll which includes an expandable bullet, uniformly expandable along its length by hydraulic cylinders, after being pulled into the core by means of a hollow piston ram and a drawbar. The bullet has an unexpanded cross-section of a football-like shape the area of which is about 10% less than the cross-sectional area of the hole in the undeformed core, allowing over expansion of the bullet which pulls the sides of the core in to form connecting chords. Add-on shells for larger cores are adaptable to the expandable base bullet.

    Abstract: A safety locking switch that can connect a selected wire to a grounded plate, on which the switch is mounted, has a metallic housing, a key operated lock mounted in the housing, an insulator affixed to the housing and an electrical lead extending through the insulator into the housing. In the locked position, the lock is in contact with both the electrical lead and the housing thereby grounding the selected wire connected to the lead. When unlocked by the key, the lock moves away from the end of the lead within the housing thereby open circuiting the path between the grounded plate and the selected wire.

    Abstract: An improved bolt mechanism for use in a rotary lock has a fixed transverse pin and a spring biased movable transverse pin. The movable pin may be retracted within the body of the bolt under the action of a key inserted into the lock. The protrusion mechanism comprises a shaft inside the bolt a portion of which is conical. A conical member is likewise attached to the spring biased transverse pin cooperating with the conical member of the shaft thereby allowing the external end of the transverse pin to be moved flush with the external surface of the bolt or to extend transversely therefrom. When the movable pin extends transversely from the bolt, the bolt is retained between key plates in the lock. When the movable pin is retracted, the bolt may be moved longitudinally along its axis through the key plates to unlock the lock.

A honing tool is placed against the ring faces and the rings driven to rotate about the circle center by rotation of one or more of the cylindrical rollers. The stack of rings therefore moves relative to the honing tool to finish the ring face. The tool may be reciprocated in the direction of the cylindrical roller axes to more uniformly finish the ring faces.

    Abstract: An improved insert is disclosed for use with a honing tool for retaining an abrasive element while mechanically isolating the abrasive element from the remainder of the honing tool. The improved slot liner is in the form of a bushing having four interconnected wall sections extending generally parallel to one another and including an arrangement for holding the bushing fixedly within the body of the honing tool. A slot at one end and a flexible curved spring member at the other end of the insert provide for improved, spring-loaded gripping characteristics of the insert. The abrasive element is additionally supported and retained due to frictional forces on the other bushing surfaces.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for honing internal surfaces of a workpiece wherein at least one of the surfaces to be honed is a flat or non-circular aperture. Movable honing stones are mounted in a holding tool such that they can move back and forth transversely of the honing tool as the honing tool is moved longitudinally of the surface to be honed. A first series of honing stones is mounted in a series of parallel slots formed in the honing tool at an angle such that when the tool moves in a first longitudinal direction the honing stones will move to one side of the tool due to reaction forces and due to the angle at which the mounting slots are formed in the tool. A second series of honing stones is mounted in a second plurality of parallel slots formed in the tool such that they move transversely in a direction opposite to the first plurality of stones when the tool is moved in a first longitudinal direction.

    Abstract: A lock assembly is provided for securing ends of a chain. One end of the chain is secured to a locking post while the other end is secured to a locking cap. The locking post has a longitudinal bore and a plurality of circular ribs near one end of the post. A plurality of open-ended longitudinal slots are provided which intersect the ribs. The locking cap has a plurality of spring biased locking rings positioned within the cap. To lock the assembly, the end of the lockng post with the ribs is inserted into the locking cap until the ribs engage the locking rings. A spring loaded piston is provided in the longitudinal bore of the locking post to keep the interior of the post free from dirt and ice and also to assist in unlocking the assembly.
