  • Patent number: 5749165
Abstract: An electric pressing iron in which a plate-shaped soleplate made of an aluminum material with a low silicon content is bonded to the iron body by a temperature-resistant adhesive, wherein the surface of the soleplate is provided with a hard and wear-resistant aluminum oxide coating. Because the soleplate is made of an aluminum material with a low silicon content, anodizing produces an aluminum oxide coating of a particularly uniform coloring, with a temperature-resistant as well as corrosion- and scratch-resistant ironing surface that affords particular economy of manufacture.

  • Patent number: 5720107
Abstract: The invention is directed to an air-moving pulsator (12) for an electric hair dryer (10) which, for the purpose of creating a pulsing action in the air stream, includes a rotor (20, 41) rotatably supported in a substantially tubular housing portion (13) and having an impeller (11) adapted to be impacted by the air stream exiting from the hair dryer (10), wherein there is arranged upstream of the rotor (20, 41), as seen when looking in the discharge direction of the air stream, a stator (38) provided with selectively moveable vanes for varying the pulsation frequency and adapted to impart rotation to the air stream about its axis. In a preferred embodiment, stator (38) is provided with air-directing blades (28) pivotally mounted on radially oriented spokes (26), and the air-directing blades (28) carry cam follower pins (31) at the ends of arms (29). A cam ring (32) is rotatably secured by outer ring (33) on the housing portion (13) and has helical camming slots (36) to cam the pins (31).

  • Patent number: 5715847
Abstract: The invention is directed to a hair styling implement adapted to be attached to an air outlet opening of a hair dryer and equipped with a housing and a plurality of hair pickup elements and an adjusting element that is movable relative to the housing. In this arrangement, at least one locking member is provided which is adapted to be located in at least two positions; in a first position, the adjusting member is lockable with the housing, and in a second position in which the hair styling implement is attached to the dryer, the housing is lockable with the hair dryer.

  • Patent number: 5711880
Abstract: A filter for the filtration of extraction beverages includes a disk having a plurality of apertures through which the beverage extracted from the material to be extracted passes form the afflux side to the efflux side. Each aperture is formed by cut edges in the disk and by bending a cut edge away from the surface of the disk to form a roof-shaped dome. The filter is formed by a single punching, bending and embossing operation without scrap slug being produced.

  • Patent number: 5708572
Abstract: The invention is directed to a switched-mode power supply with a primary switched-mode flyback converter for the controlled supply of an electrical load from an input voltage source of optionally different voltage types and voltage levels, in which a series arrangement comprising of the primary winding of a transformer, the main current path of a a first controllable semiconductor switching device, and a first resistor is connected in parallel with the input voltage source. The secondary winding of the transformer is connected in series with a diode and the load. The base of the first controllable semiconductor switching device is connected to an arrangement that limits the maximum peak current of the first controllable semiconductor switching device in dependence upon the output current and that detects the voltage drop caused by the output current through the secondary winding along the internal impedance of the secondary winding of the transformer.

  • Patent number: 5704935
Abstract: An appliance for epilating hair of the human skin includes an epilation head with at least two electrical conductors and a clamping device for gripping and plucking the hair. The electrical conductors at least temporarily engaging the skin during hair plucking. A casing is attached to the epilation head and a motor housed in the casing drives the clamping device to cause the clamping device to automatically and periodically perform its functions of gripping and plucking. A generator electrically connected to the electrical conductors provides a stimulator current to the skin when the electrical conductors are in contact with the skin so as to electrically stimulate the nerve system under the skin during hair plucking.
