  • Patent number: 9397384
Abstract: A near field communications (NFC) device is disclosed that interacts with other NFC devices to exchange information and/or the data. An operator may touch, or be sufficiently proximate to, an antenna module of the NFC device to operate and/or control the NFC device. The antenna module includes antenna components that are characterized by a corresponding characteristic impedance. The touch, or sufficient proximity, of the operator changes the corresponding characteristic impedance of antenna components. The NFC device may determine a location of the touch, or proximity, of the operator based upon this change. The NFC device may interpret the location of the touch, or proximity, of the operator as information from the operator to operate and/or control the NFC device.

  • Publication number: 20160202932
Abstract: A Ternary Content-Addressable Memory (TCAM) system is disclosed. In the system, writes to the memory are performed over several cycles. In order to ensure full visibility of all entries within the TCAM, a cache memory is provided. At the start of the TCAM write, the cache is written with the contents of the new entry. The cache entry is activated for the period of time that the corresponding entry in the TCAM is deactivated for rewriting. For each input value provided to the system, both the TCAM and the cache are checked for potential matches. The results of these checks are compared at output. In this manner, all entries within the TCAM can maintain full visibility even throughout a write period.

  • Patent number: 9392295
Abstract: Various methods and systems are provided for adaptable media processing architectures. In one example, among others, an adaptable coding architecture for servicing media streams includes media processing resources and a controller that supports a first media stream by placing media processing pipeline resources in a single stream configuration and that causes a transition from the single stream configuration to a multiple stream configuration of the media processing resources. For example, the transition may be made to simultaneously support encoding or decoding another media stream. In another example, a device includes media processing resources and a controller that causes an adaptive reconfiguration of media processing resources to support simultaneous coding related processing of both a new media stream and at least one ongoing media stream, which may cause a reallocation of at least a part of the media processing resources from an ongoing media stream to the new media stream.

  • Patent number: 9392549
Abstract: Where receiver performance at a User Equipment (UE) is similar using a coarse precoder codebook as using a fine resolution precoder codebook, the signaling of a two-component precoder codebook is modified such that a precoder codeword is signaled to the UE in only a portion of the physical resources allocated for precoder codeword signaling to the UE. The remaining portion of the allocated physical resources is used to signal control information to improve the UE's performance.

  • Patent number: 9391867
Abstract: A device for instrumentation and traffic disposition of a network using one or more time-stamps may include a receiving port to receive a data packet. A device configuration module may be configured to determine whether the device is a boundary device located on a boundary of an instrumented sub-network of the network. If the determination is made that device is the boundary device, a frame processing module may insert a first time-stamp at a first offset from a frame checksum (FCS) field in a data frame associated with the data packet. Otherwise, a corresponding time-stamp may be inserted at a second offset from the FCS field. The one or more time-stamps may enable a receiving endpoint device of the network to determine timeliness information associated with the data packet.

Abstract: In a base station having a Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (M-MIMO) antenna array, the availability of the M-MIMO antenna array is exploited to manage the interference caused by the base station to neighboring cells. In one embodiment, the large number of antenna elements of the M-MIMO antenna array are used to create precise transmit and/or receive spatial nulls at specific User Equipments (UEs) being served by a neighboring cell and/or in select areas of the neighboring cell. Depending on whether the spatial null is partial or full, transmissions by the base station may have reduced or even zero receive power within the neighboring cell.

  • Patent number: 9379882
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to use of out-of-band (OOB) channels for the transport of network-synchronization signals and network control information. These OOB channels transport synchronization and control channels over low-frequency bands outside of the frequency bands used for the data channels. Locating expensive network-synchronization functions in the optical network unit (ONU) and sharing the derived synchronization signals among multiple downstream customer premises equipment (CPE) devices results in cost savings and provides a means for maintaining a continuous, end-to-end synchronization reference, even during periods when the data channels on the copper network segment are in an energy-efficiency mode (e.g., a low-power and/or sleep mode).

  • Patent number: 9379996
Abstract: A method and system virtualizes bandwidth. The system may include multiple communication interfaces to communicate across a hybrid network containing multiple networks of different types, technologies, protocols, topologies, or other network characteristics. The system may aggregate the bandwidth of the multiple communication interfaces into an aggregated virtualized bandwidth. When a bandwidth request is received, the system may determine a bandwidth allocation across the aggregated virtualized bandwidth. The system may also determine a communication resource allocation for the bandwidth allocation, which may assign any number of the communication interfaces. The system may then communicate application data across the allocated bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 9378751
Abstract: In a hardware audio CODEC which processes audio signals from a plurality of inputs, voltage and/or power levels of the input audio signals may be adjusted such that the digitally adjusted levels are approximately equal for each of the plurality of inputs. The digital adjustment may comprise, for each audio sample of one of the input audio signals, adding the audio sample to one or more right shifted versions of the audio sample and selecting a portion of a summed audio signal resulting from the addition. The portion of the summed audio that is selected may be determined based on the type of audio content being processed. The one or more right shifted versions of the audio sample may be selected via one or more switching elements which may be controlled via a digital control word which may be dynamically generated.

  • Patent number: 9379825
Abstract: A new protocol uses a trigger message to identify one or more symbols transmitted between a first and a second communication device. The first device generates and transmits a trigger message to the second device. This process may be initiated based on the first device receiving a measurement initiation message from another device (e.g., such as the second device or another device within the system). Then, the first device transmits a signal that includes those one or more symbols to the second device. Before or during transmission, the first device generates a first capture of those one or more symbols. After receipt of the transmission from the first device, the second device performs a second capture of those one or more symbols identified within the trigger message. Then, any device having the first and second captures can determine a characterization of the communication pathway between the first and second devices.
