Abstract: Power over Ethernet (PoE) communication systems provide power and data communications over the same communications link, where a power source device (PSE) provides DC power to a powered device (PD). The DC power is transmitted simultaneously over the same communications medium with the high speed data from one node to the other node. The PSE controller measures the voltage, current, and temperature of the outgoing and incoming DC supply lines to characterize the power requirements of the PD. The PSE controller may detect and validate a compatible PD, determine a power classification signature for the validated PD, supply power to the PD, monitor the power, and reduce or remove the power from the PD when the power is no longer requested or required. If the PSE finds the PD to be non-compatible, the PSE can prevent the application of power to that PD device, protecting the PD from possible damage.

Abstract: A wireless communication device capable of determining its location in an indoor environment is disclosed. In an indoor environment, a wireless communication device may have insufficient access to GNSS satellites or cellular towers to make an accurate determination as to its location. Therefore, the wireless communication device generates a fingerprint map of the environment by estimating its position and scanning multiple positions within the environment for accessible access points and characteristics. The device stores this information in memory, which it can later refer to for determining its current position.

  • Publication number: 20130225208
Abstract: A wireless communication device capable of more accurately estimating its location in an indoor environment is disclosed. In an indoor environment, the wireless communication device may seek to generate a fingerprint map so as to later identify its location within the environment. However, the map requires the device to at least estimate its current position. Therefore, the device includes one or more sensors to identify each of a bearing and a speed of the device. For example, the speed may be determined based on sensed steps and a stored step length. This information may then be used to estimate the device's location as it moves through the indoor environment.

Abstract: Methods and systems for auto coexistence priority selection for a SCO link are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include a first Bluetooth device communicating with a collocated WLAN device via a coexistence method. The first Bluetooth device, prior to executing a non-SCO task, which may comprise tasks that do not involve SCO packet transfer, may communicate low priority via the coexistence method if a Bluetooth SCO link is present between the first Bluetooth device and a second Bluetooth device, and if a current task being handled by the first Bluetooth device is a high priority task. If a SCO link is not present between the first and second Bluetooth devices, and if the current non-SCO task is a high priority task, the first Bluetooth device may communicate high priority via the coexistence method prior to executing the non-SCO task.

  • Patent number: 8520519
Abstract: A packet voice communication system having a jitter buffer external to a voice processor. The jitter buffer stores voice packets received from a packet network. The voice processor processes the voice packets from the jitter buffer. A jitter buffer processor may place an indicator in each voice packet it holds. The indicator can indicate a length of time the voice packet was held. The rate at which packets come from the jitter buffer may be based upon the indicator, a higher rate if holding times are high and a slower rate if low. The voice processor can store the voice packets in a packet queue prior to processing the voice packets. The rate voice packets come to the voice processor may be based upon how full the packet queue is, a higher rate if the packet queue is relatively empty and a slower rate if relatively full.
