  • Patent number: 8493156
Abstract: According to an exemplary embodiment, a high amplitude oscillation generator includes an LC tank circuit, a gain stage, a dynamic bias circuit, a bias current source, and a dynamic bias circuit receiving a current source feedback voltage and outputting a gain stage bias voltage. The dynamic bias circuit adjusts the gain stage bias voltage in response to a change in the current source feedback voltage after a start up of the LC tank circuit. The dynamic bias circuit thereby increases an amplitude of oscillations produced by the oscillation generator. The dynamic bias circuit can include an error amplifier, the error amplifier generating the gain stage bias voltage responsive to the current source feedback voltage. The current source feedback voltage can change with a voltage drop across the bias current source. The current source feedback voltage can also be received from an output of the oscillation generator.

  • Patent number: 8493900
Abstract: Idle mode power consumption reduction in wireless communications. Within a wireless communication device that is operative to communicate with any one of a number of servicing cells, paging broadcasts from more than one of these servicing cells are received and undergo only a limited amount of processing before being stored for use in subsequent processing that may be performed later. This partitioned processing allows the turning off of certain components that are not needed and/or no longer needed for determining the system frame numbers associated with various servicing cells to effectuate timing synchronization. Certain modules within such a wireless communication device may perform processing using the full capabilities of the wireless communication device to generate initially processed signal, and then after such signals are stored, then only partial processing capability of the wireless communication device may be employed, even though perhaps being slower, to complete the processing.

  • Patent number: 8494086
Abstract: Distortion and aliasing reduction for digital to analog conversion. Synthesis of one or more distortion terms made based on a digital signal (e.g., one or more digital codewords) is performed in accordance with digital to analog conversion. The one or more distortion terms may correspond to aliased higher-order harmonics, distortion, nonlinearities, clipping, etc. Such distortion terms may be known a priori, such as based upon particular characteristics of a given device, operational history, etc. Alternatively, such distortion terms may be determined based upon operation of a device and/or based upon an analog signal generated from the analog to conversion process. For example, frequency selective measurements made based on an analog signal generated from the digital to analog conversion may be used for determination of and/or adaptation of the one or more distortion terms. One or more DACs may be employed within various architectures operative to perform digital to analog conversion.
