Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for achieving space and time diversity gain are disclosed. Aspects of one method may include modifying a generalization code of at least one pilot channel, to measure signal strengths for each of a plurality of received multipath signals. A portion of the plurality of received multipath signals may be combined based on the measured signal strengths. The signal strengths of the plurality of received multipath signals may be measured on a primary pilot channel by assigning its generalization code to zero. The signal strengths of the plurality of received multipath signals on a secondary pilot channel may measured by assigning its generalization code to a non-zero value.

Abstract: A graphics display system integrated circuit is used in a set-top box for controlling a television display. The graphics display system processes analog video input, digital video input, and graphics input. The system incorporates a unified memory architecture that is shared by the graphics system, a CPU, and other peripherals. The unified memory architecture uses real time scheduling to service tasks. Critical instant analysis is used to find a schedule for memory usage that does not affect memory requirements of real time tasks while at the same time servicing non-real-time tasks as needed.

Abstract: A wireless communication system and method that includes configurable Carrier Aggregation (CA) and/or Multiple-input Multiple-output (MIMO) operational modes. In CA, multiple carriers (i.e., channel bundling) are aggregated and jointly used for transmission to/from a single terminal. Downlink inter-band carrier aggregation increases the downlink data rates by routing two signals, received in different frequency bands, simultaneously to two active receivers in the RF transceiver. MIMO utilizes two additional receivers as diversity paths and the frequency generation can be shared between main and diversity path for each carriers.

The antenna solutions can be employed in WPT/NFC enabled communication devices capable of WPT and NFC communication.
Abstract: A wireless communication device is disclosed that is capable of utilizing multiple radio access technologies (RATs) in various coordinated ways so as to optimize, and enhance the versatility, of the device's communication capabilities. One or more RATs may be selected for use, either alone or in cooperation with each other, based on various conditions, such as channel conditions, traffic, data type, and priority. When conditions change, the originally-selected communication scheme may no longer be preferred. Consequently, the device can initiate a handover to another communication scheme. Transmitters corresponding to RATs that are not currently selected are controlled to enter a low-power state in order to conserve power. However, in some circumstances, the device may utilize both RATs simultaneously.
Abstract: Communication devices coupled via a communication link may comprise physical layer devices that may be operable to determine presence of a received signal and to mitigate noise in the signal prior to processing and/or validating the signal. Analog and/or digital signal processing may be utilized to process the signal and/or mitigate noise in the signal. Noise mitigation may comprise near-end crosstalk cancelling and/or echo cancelling and/or may utilize local transmit signal information. Subsequent to noise mitigation, samples of the noise reduced signal may be accumulated and/or an average signal strength and/or average signal power level may be determined. The average signal strength and/or average signal power level may be compared to one or more thresholds which may be configurable and/or programmable.

Abstract: A switching device is operable to mitigate bandwidth degradation while it is oversubscribed. Due to a latency involved with notifying a scheduler that a queue has transitioned from an active state to an empty state, the scheduler may inadvertently schedule an empty queue for processing, which may result in a degradation of bandwidth of the switching device. To avoid such degradation, the switching device may be configured to control the flow of data provided from the queue to the scheduler so that the data is provided to the scheduler as a burst transaction. For example, the switching device may be configured to delay the provision of certain indicators provided by a queue in order to defer the notification to the scheduler of when the queue receives and stores data. This may enable the queue to store more data, which can be provided to the scheduler as a burst transaction.

Abstract: A pre-computation based TCAM configured to reduce the number of match lines being pre-charged during a search operation to save power is disclosed. The pre-computation based TCAM stores additional information in a secondary TCAM that can be used to determine which match lines in a primary TCAM storing data words to be searched need not be pre-charged because they are associated with data words guaranteed to not match. The additional information stored in secondary TCAM can include a pre-computation word that represents a range inclusive of a lower and upper bound of a number of ones or zeroes possible in a corresponding data word stored in the primary TCAM.
Abstract: Detection and characterization of laser clipping within communication devices. Identification of one or more harmonics associated with a fundamental frequency by which signaling is effectuated within the communication system for laser clipping identification. Appropriate spectral signal analysis is made to identify the presence of characteristic(s) (e.g., energy, amplitude, phase, and/or other characteristic(s)), if any, at one or more harmonic frequencies within a received signal. Appropriate time correlation is performed to distinguish whether or not characteristic(s) associated with at one or more of these harmonic bands is a result of laser clipping or from some other source (e.g., such as other signals within a communication system that happened to reside at those respective harmonic bands). Such appropriate identified correlation between characteristic(s) corresponding to a fundamental frequency band of the communication signal and characteristic(s) corresponding to one or more harmonics (e.g.
Abstract: Typical transceivers have multiple near-end and multiple far-end crosstalk cancellation filters. Crosstalk cancellation is one of the largest contributors to power dissipation in the DSP portion of high speed Ethernet transceivers. By detecting the cable type, a transceiver could automatically turn off its crosstalk cancellation filters when driving shielded twisted pair (STP) cables and substantially reduce the overall power dissipation in this configuration. Adaptive digital crosstalk cancellers automatically adjust the coefficients of a digital filter to match the coupling function between two channels. The impulse response of an optimal crosstalk cancellation filter can be used to determine a metric indicating the amount of coupling between the two channels. STP cables will have a much lower amount of coupling between wire-pairs than unshielded twisted pair cables.
Abstract: An outdoor communication unit (ODU) for implementation within a dual channel microwave backhaul system, is provided. The ODU includes an radio frequency (RF) module, having digital capabilities, which is configured to utilize the digital capabilities to perform adaptive adjustments to correct errors in data in a digital domain, a conversion block configured to convert the data between an analog domain and the digital domain, and a processing module configured to adaptively adjust a characteristic of the data and a characteristic of a dual channel wireless link, and to facilitate a transmission of the data over the dual channel wireless link by performing mathematical manipulation techniques. In particular, the characteristic of the data and of the dual channel wireless link are adaptively adjusted, according to a detected condition, using a hitless adaptive coding modulation (ACM) technique to optimize the transmission of the data over the dual channel wireless link.
