  • Patent number: 9088807
Abstract: A data communication architecture delivers a wide variety of content, including audio and video content, to consumers. The architecture employs channel bonding to deliver more bandwidth than any single communication channel can carry. The architecture includes intermediate network devices that may receive content and send content using different groups of communication channels. The network device may process content received across a first set of communication channels for transmission across a second set of communication channels different from the first set. Such processing may preserve a program order of the content during delivery to a destination device.

  • Patent number: 9086437
Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure include methods in which spurs generated by the drifting of an oscillation frequency of an oscillation signal provided by a free-running oscillator may be minimized and/or eliminated from an output signal of a phase locked loop (PLL). Methods include minimizing the mixing gain between the oscillation signal and a power signal provided to the PLL. The oscillation signal and the power signal may be mixed in a phase frequency detector (PFD) included in the PLL. The minimizing of the mixing gain for the PFD also minimizes the degrading effect that the spurs have on the overall performance of the communications device. The mixing gain may be minimized by minimizing the impedance provided at nodes included in the PFD where the oscillation signal and the power signal mix. The mixing gain may also be minimized by maximizing the power supply rejection ratio for the PFD.

  • Patent number: 9088953
Abstract: A wireless device has a plurality of radio systems. The current priority of each of the radio systems is determined. An upper bound for the transmit power of each of the radio systems is set in dependence on at least the current priorities of the radio systems and a current maximum permitted transmit power of the wireless device. The upper bounds for the transmit power of each of the radio systems are variable over time and are set such that the sum of the upper bounds does not exceed the current maximum permitted transmit power of the wireless device. For each of the radio systems, the transmit power of that radio system is limited such that the respective upper bound for the transmit power for that radio system is not exceeded.

  • Publication number: 20150200711
Abstract: Transceiver self-diagnostics for electromagnetic interference (EMI) degradation in balanced channels. Selective operation of transmitting a common mode signal from a communication link implemented for supporting differential signaling, and appropriate processing of any detected signal energy, such as that corresponding to differential signal energy, provides a measure of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) corresponding to the communication link. Comparison of detected differential signal energy to one or more thresholds may provide indication of whether or not the communication link is balanced or unbalanced, a degree or margin with which the communication link is compliant in accordance with EMC in accordance with one or more protocols, standards, or recommended practices. Multiple successive measurements of detected differential signal energy may be used to determine a trend of performance, such as whether or not the communication link is trending toward imbalance, failure, or noncompliance.
