Publication number: 20150092543Abstract: A mobile gateway device collects identities of a first set of radio nodes which are within one hop of the mobile gateway; and checks at least the collected identities against a first table and a second table. The first table lists node identities and corresponding data validity timers. The second table lists node identities and no corresponding data validity timers. From the checking the device selects a group of radio nodes to activate for collecting and reporting data. The device determines parent child relations among the radio nodes, which are sensor nodes of a wireless sensing network in an embodiment, and uses the list to activate only those nodes for which it does not have valid data to sense new data and transmit their sensing results.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2012Publication date: April 2, 2015Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Fei Yin, Haifeng Wang, Zhenhong Li, Juan Xiao, Ping Wang, Fuqiang Liu

Publication number: 20150092675Abstract: Example embodiments generally relate to adapting a transmission via first wireless technology to avoid interference with a reception via a second wireless technology. For example, a user equipment (e.g. cell phone) can include radios operating according to first and second wireless radio technologies, which can include Long Term Evolution (LTE) and a technology using the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) frequency band. When a priority request is asserted by a radio operating in the ISM frequency band, the LTE radio may abort a scheduled transmission when certain “transmission abort criteria” are satisfied.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2013Publication date: April 2, 2015Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Amit CHOUDHARY, Arzad Kherani

Publication number: 20150092621Abstract: A multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna system is implemented for communications in a wireless device. MIMO beamforming techniques are utilized to improve communications, and may be utilized in full-duplex mode. Techniques include the formation of beamforming patterns having orthogonal polarizations to one another at each communication device, but having matching polarization between transmit/receive pairs located at each respective communication device. Techniques also include the formation of beamforming patterns in a direction towards another communication device to maximize transmit power in that direction while inducing nulls in the beamforming pattern to reduce self-interference coupling via antennas configured for reception. Full-duplex communications are improved through monitoring of the self-interference coupling and adapting the beamforming patterns to reduce it.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2013Publication date: April 2, 2015Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Louay JALLOUL, Amin MOBASHER, Sam ALEX

Publication number: 20150094103Abstract: A wireless communication device (WDEV) receives, detects, snoops, etc. (generally, “receives”) signals that are transmitted between two other WDEVs and extracts information therefrom to determine the location of the WDEV. These signals can include fine timing measurement (FTM) and/or timestamps related information as part of a frame exchange procedure between those two other WDEVs. A new protocol specifies when such an FTM and/or timestamps frame exchange procedure is performed between the two other WDEVs, and the WDEV intelligently detects/receives such signals at such specified times. When the WDEV operates in a reduced power or sleep state, the WDEV awakens from the reduced power or sleep state at the appropriate times to detect FTM and/or timestamps related information of such a frame exchange procedure. The WDEV then can process such FTM and/or timestamps related information for use in determining the location of the WDEV relative to the two other WDEVs.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2014Publication date: April 2, 2015Applicant: BROADCOM CORPORATIONInventors: Qi Wang, Matthew James Fischer

Patent number: 8996148Abstract: Methods and systems for processing audio signals are disclosed herein. Aspects of the method may comprise controlling gain during multipath, multi-rate audio processing by generating a digital signal that is a product of an input digital signal and a gain coefficient derived from a lookup table, and coarse tuning the gain by bit-shifting the digital signal to generate a digital output signal. The gain may be fine-tuned utilizing a variable step size determined by interpolation. The gain coefficient may be partitioned into gain blocks, which may be twice a corresponding value in preceding gain blocks.
