Publication number: 20140281099Abstract: This application relates to systems and methods for controlling the flow of transport layer packets (TLP) in a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe)-based environment. In an exemplary embodiment, an arbiter in a PCIe device determines the amount of data, if any, that should be expected in response to transmission of a particular TLP. If a receive buffer of the PCIe device has enough available space for storing the expected data, the arbiter permits transmission of the particular TLP. If the receive buffer does not have enough available space for storing the expected data, the arbiter suppresses transmission of the particular TLP until the receive buffer has enough available space. The exemplary embodiment may improve data flow through the PCIe environment by reducing fragmented transfers of data.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Refeal AVEZ, Danny Kopelev

Publication number: 20140269847Abstract: Techniques are described herein that perform symbol-level equalization using multiple spreading factors. The techniques may allow for symbol-level equalization to be performed between a serving cell and a non-serving cell(s) for WCDMA and HSDPA protocols, for example. A serving cell operates using a first spreading factor, and a non-serving cell(s) operates using a second, different spreading factor. Data communications received from the serving cell and the non-serving cell(s) may be aligned using extended channel representation(s) of the non-serving cell(s) and/or scrambling code offset(s). The aligned communications may be equalized using symbol-level equalization to obtain a joint linear minimum mean square error between the serving cell and the non-serving cell(s).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 1, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventor: Fu-Hsuan Chiu

Publication number: 20140270226Abstract: Techniques described herein are directed to the enhancement of spectral features of an audio signal via adaptive modulation filtering. The adaptive modulation filtering process is based on observed modulation envelope autocorrelation coefficients obtained from the audio signal. The modulation envelope autocorrelation coefficients are used to determine parameters of an adaptive filter configured to filter the spectral features of the audio signal to provide filtered spectral features. The parameters are updated based on the observed modulation envelope autocorrelation coefficients to adapt to changing acoustic conditions, such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or reverberation time. Accordingly, such acoustic conditions are not required to be estimated explicitly. Techniques described herein also allow for the estimation of useful side information, e.g.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2014Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: Broadcom CorporationInventor: Bengt J. Patent number: 8837321Abstract: A network sends downlink a neighbor frequency list for redirection (with at least one neighbor frequency) for measurement, for example event-triggered measurement. For each frequency in the list which a user equipment UE finds to satisfy one or more criteria, for example event-triggering criteria, the idle-state or semi-idle-state UE then takes a measurement of the neighbor frequency and checks whether the measurement satisfies reporting criteria. The UE sends to its serving cell an indication of the neighbor frequency or frequencies whose measurement meets the reporting criteria, without reporting the measurement, such as in a RRC Connection Request message. The serving cell then redirects the UE to establish a connection on a target frequency selected from the indicated neighbor frequencies, and this redirect may be in a RRC Connection Reject message.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2013Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Tero Henttonen, Brian Alexander Martin, Keiichi Kubota, Wei Bai, Samuli Turtinen, Jari Isokangas

Patent number: 8837635Abstract: Embodiments provide systems and methods to dynamically control a radio frequency (RF) transmitter based on monitored error vector magnitude (EVM) performance. Embodiments are enabled by a feedback path that allows estimating the EVM at the output of the transmitter and controlling the transmitter, including the power amplifier (PA), accordingly. As such, the transmitter (and the PA) can be operated as close as possible to the ideal operating point that meets, based on actual conditions, a specified EVM performance and desired output power. By doing so, the overall power consumption of the transmitter is reduced.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2012Date of Patent: September 16, 2014Assignee: Broadcom CorporationInventors: Robert Lorenz, Djordje Tujkovic
