Abstract: Compensation circuitry includes a resistor and transistor coupled in series with a reference current source to generate a variable reference voltage that is provided, via a voltage regulator, to bias elements of a core circuit in order to establish an operating current in the core circuit. In one embodiment, the resistor and transistor of the compensation circuitry are of similar construction to the bias elements of the core circuit, such that fluctuations in the ratio of the reference current and the operating current of the core circuit are minimized over process, supply voltage and temperature variations. The voltage regulator may be a low dropout regulator. In various embodiments, the core circuit may comprise a resistor biased voltage controlled oscillator, a differential current mode logic (CML) input to single CMOS output circuit, or like circuitry that may be sensitive to phase noise or requires low power operation.

  • Publication number: 20140292377
Abstract: An inverter circuit includes an input stage and an output stage, each including pairs of complementary transistors having low-voltage oxides. The transistors within the input stage are configured to receive the input signal and to provide control voltages in response to input signal voltage variations. The voltage level of one control voltage is clamped between an intermediate voltage and a high voltage, and the voltage level of the other control voltage is clamped between the intermediate voltage and a low voltage. The switching states of each complementary transistor in the output stage arc controlled by the control voltages, which results in an output signal voltage varying between the high and the low voltage. The voltage clamping advantageously allows the inverter circuit to switch between the high and the low voltage level without exceeding a maximum gate-source or a gate-drain voltage rating for any transistor, and without requiring additional passive components.

Abstract: In a first embodiment a user equipment (UE) applies a temporary offset to a cell selection and/or a cell re-selection criterion or criteria in response to determining that a condition is satisfied for the UE. Thereafter, the cell is evaluated for selection or re-selection according to the respective cell selection or cell re-selection criterion or criteria with the applied offset. In a second embodiment, a restriction is imposed for evaluating a cell for selection or re-selection in response to determining that a condition is satisfied for the UE; and the restriction is removed in response to determining that the UE is non-stationary. Examples for the condition include the UE speed being less than a threshold, an indication of the offset being in system information, or a failed number of consecutive random access attempts. Examples of the restriction are the first embodiment's offset and barring the cell for selection/re-selection purposes.

Abstract: A method and system for drawing roaming users to a particular virtually tagged location based on associated geolocation virtual tags. Notifications are provided to the user of a mobile communications device at a first location to attract the user to a second location having associated virtual tags. For example, a series of virtual tags trigger at different distance intervals from the virtually tagged posting location to provide the user with periodic directions (i.e., arrows, audible “turn left here”, “only 100 m away”, etc.) drawing the roaming user to the virtually tagged location. Various modes of operation provide the roaming user with customizability based on individual characteristics, behaviors and preferences.

  • Publication number: 20140295831
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes a single baseband processor and RF chain for servicing a first and second SIM. Each of the SIMs connects to a different network, and one may be used for one data type while the other is used for another data type. In order to track the connectivity of an inactive first SIM, a controller periodically interrupts service to the second SIM. During its connection, the first SIM monitors the connection to its network. A triggering mechanism and trigger threshold define when a switch to a new cell is needed. The device receives the mechanism and threshold from the network and calculates a modified threshold and/or mechanism is order to reduce a number of potentially missed calls.

Abstract: Certain aspects of a method and system for a fast cell search using a primary synchronization channel (PSYNC) process in a multimode wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) terminal are provided. A WCDMA frequency search or a global system for mobile communications (GSM) frequency search is performed based on a current radio access technology (RAT), received signal strength indication (RSSI) scan measurements, and PSYNC detection operations. The RSSI scan measurements may be averaged by making multiple measurements during a measurement period. At least part of the PSYNC detection operations may be performed during a remaining portion of the measurement period. WCDMA carrier frequencies may be marked in accordance with the results of the PSYNC detection operations. For GSM, some of the frequencies may be removed from the search based on the PSYNC marking while the remaining search frequencies may be ranked based on results from the RSSI scan measurements.

Abstract: Systems and methods for securing a credential generated by or stored in an authentication token during an attempt to access a service, application, or resource are provided. A secure processor receives a credential from an authentication token and securely stores the credential. The secure processor then verifies the identity of the individual attempting to use the authentication token and cryptographically verifies the identity of the server being accessed. The credential is only released for transmission to the server if both the identity of the individual and the identity of the server are successfully verified. Alternatively, a secure connection is established between the secure processor and the server being accessed and a secure connection is established between the secure processor and a computing device. The establishment of the secure connections verifies the identity of the server. After the secure connections are established, the identity of the user is verified.
