  • Patent number: 9245602
Abstract: A memory device with word-line voltage boosting includes a set of first switches that are operable to couple a word-line of the memory device to a supply voltage to pull the word-line up to a rail voltage. A dummy line including a conductive route can be disposed in a vicinity of the word-line to form a parasitic coupling capacitance with the word-line. A second switch is operable to couple the dummy line to the supply voltage to pull the dummy line to the rail voltage. • Patent number: 9247390
Abstract: In an IP multimedia gateway, locations corresponding to communicatively coupled communication devices are determined and transmitted to a service provider device (SPD) that provides services to the communication devices. Communication devices receive location based service profiles from the (SPD) based on the determined locations. Services content from the (SPD) is communicated with the communication devices and/or with the (SPD), based on the profiles. The determined locations are received from communication devices which may be local or remote. A device location map is generated to be displayed by communication devices. The gateway may be integrated in an STB/DTV that displays the determined locations. Content is communicated to communication devices based on their location. The (SPD) may provide content and/or control information for communication device services.

  • Patent number: 9247406
Abstract: Embodiments provide methods and systems for transmitting an emergency (SOS) message from a user (UE) to a cellular network in a highly robust and energy efficient manner. Specifically, embodiments enable the SOS message to be sent in a synchronous manner despite the asynchronous nature of the network, which significantly enhances the probability of successful reception of the SOS message by at least one base station (eNodeB) of the network. Embodiments further provide highly robust SOS message transmission and reception schemes configured to enhance the successful detection and decoding of the SOS message by at least one base station of the cellular network. In addition, embodiments enable the synchronous transmission of the SOS message to the network without requiring network attachment by the UE. This makes embodiments highly suited for emergency situations in which network coverage is affected and can enable significant and precious power savings at the UE.

  • Patent number: 9247439
Abstract: A method for receiving a frame in a high data throughput wireless local area network begins by receiving a preamble of the frame via a channel in accordance with a default receiver filter mask. The processing continues by validating the preamble. The processing continues by, when the preamble is validated, interpreting the preamble to determine a high data throughput channel configuration. The processing continues by reconfiguring the default receiver filter mask in accordance with the high data throughput channel configuration to produce a reconfigured receiver filter mask. The processing continues by receiving a data segment of the frame in accordance with the reconfigured receiver filter mask.

  • Patent number: 9246587
Abstract: Systems and methods for optical multi-path interference (MPI) compensation are provided. In an embodiment, a mean MPI signal representing a mean amplitude of the MPI in an input signal is generated and subtracted from a first estimate of transmitted amplitude of the input signal to generate a mean MPI compensated estimate of transmitted amplitude. The mean MPI compensated estimate of transmitted amplitude is sliced to generate a decision of transmitted amplitude of the input signal. The mean MPI signal can be generated using a mean MPI feedback loop or using an iterative feed-forward process. In another embodiment, mean MPI levels corresponding to respective transmitted intensity levels are generated and used to control slice levels of a slicer in order to compensate for MPI.

  • Patent number: 9245531
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are provided for performing joint source channel decoding in a manner that exploits parameter domain correlation. Redundancy in speech coding and packet field parameters is exploited to generate conditional probabilities that a decoder utilizes to perform joint source channel decoding. The conditional probabilities are based upon correlations of parameters of a current frame with parameters of the same or other frames or historical parameter data. Parameter domain correlation provides significant channel decoding improvement over prior bit domain solutions. Also provided are methods, systems, and apparatuses for utilizing received statistics of monitored data bits from which conditional probabilities are generated to perform channel decoding. The techniques described may be implemented at the decoder side and thus do not interfere with transmission standards.

  • Publication number: 20160021722
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method and apparatus for estimating ambient light conditions for an OLED display. Embodiments of the method and apparatus use one or more columns of OLEDs in the display to perform two functions: their typical function of emitting light in a display mode, and the additional function of sensing light in a sense mode. To perform the additional sense mode functionality, the one or more columns of OLEDs in the display are temporarily placed into a photovoltaic and/or photoconductive mode. A sensing circuit is used to measure this current produced by the one or more columns of OLEDs while operating in the sense mode and report it back to a controller. The controller can then use this information to estimate the ambient light conditions of the environment where the OLED display is currently operating and to perform a touch and/or proximity sensing function.

  • Publication number: 20160021611
Abstract: Session recovery after network coordinator or AP restart for single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. Restart or reset of a network coordinator (e.g., an access point (AP) or other network coordinator type device) may occur for various reasons (e.g., a power cycle or power failure, inadequate failover protection, scheduled or planned power outages such as for including network maintenance, software upgrades, etc.). Upon determination of network coordinator restarted or reset, a singular bit within a communication from the network coordinator indicates synchronization or not of the its timing synchronization function (TSF) (e.g., with other devices in the communication system, such as wireless stations (STAs), smart meter stations (SMSTAs), etc.). A given device (e.g., STA, SMSTA, etc.) can provide its current TSF to the network coordinator so that it can resynchronize, re-establish its scheduled for wake times of those devices (e.g., target wake times (TWTs)), etc.

  • Publication number: 20160020837
Abstract: A double structured codebook is described that has a wideband codebook portion C(W1) and a frequency-selective codebook portion C(W2). Portion C(W2) is characterised in that for at least one rank index RI, each codeword of C(W2) is uniquely distinguished over all other codewords of C(W2) by at least two beam selection vectors per layer. A device (UE, eNB, etc) utilises the at least two different beam selection 10 vectors per layer to uniquely select a codeword W2 from C(W2) (404); and constructs a pre-coder W from the selected codeword W2 and from another codeword W1 selected from the wideband codebook portion C(W1) for signalling channel conditions (406). An additional co-phasing term for ensuring orthogonality can be utilised with the beam selection vectors per layer to uniquely select the codeword from C(W2), and the two different beam selection vectors per layer correspond to different polarizations (410).
