  • Patent number: 4363986
Abstract: A rotor of a turbine generator, wherein the field and amortisseur windings are held in place by means of axially and tangentially secured rings shrunk on the rotor body without the use of otherwise customary slot wedges. The rings are shrunk on the rotor body without overlapping and at a distance from each other. In this way, the magnetically effective rotor cross-section is increased up to 30% without reducing the size of the air gap.

  • Patent number: 4359310
Abstract: To improve wall cooling, especially at gas turbine elements, such as buckets or blading, combustion chambers, infeed channels and so forth, it is proposed to arrange a partition wall between an outer plate and an inner plate, for instance formed of sheet metal. The partition wall forms a cooling agent chamber and a pressure equalization chamber. The partition wall preferably consists of a buckle plate whose bulges or protuberances are connected, as by welding, with the outer plate. There is maintained within the pressure equalization chamber a pressure which approximately corresponds to the hot gas pressure at the outer surface of the outer plate, so that there are avoided so-called boiler stresses.

  • Patent number: 4343875
Abstract: A method of etching a silicon-substrate, wherein a protective layer is formed on the substrate and serves as an etching mask, at least one some areas of the surface of the substrate. A layer of mineral glass, adhering to the substrate, is used for this protective coating. The protective layer can be formed by the application of a mixture containing finely dispersed mineral glass and fixing agents, or a composition which will form mineral glass when heated, to the Si-substrate, by heating the mixture to form a layer of mineral glass adhering to the Si-substrate. If photo-polymerizable components are used in this mixture, the etching mask of glass may be produced by way of photolithography. The invention further includes a Si-substrate provided with a mineral glass protective layer.

  • Patent number: 4343014
Abstract: A light-ignitable thyristor formed of a main thyristor and an auxiliary thyristor integrated on a common wafer, wherein in order to reduce the ignition ratio between the main and auxiliary thyristors, the length of the cathode emitter edge near the gate of the main thyristor is shortened by forming anode base zone ducts which reach up to the cathode side surface between portions of the main thyristor gate and cathode zones. The width of the anode base zone areas formed on the cathode surface side is selected such that during the entire ignition process, a narrow space charging zone acting as an insulation zone remains at least partially around the PN junction bordering the surface areas of the anode base zone.

  • Patent number: 4336420
Abstract: A superconducting cable containing a plurality of individual wires which are stranded or plaited to wire bundles and ropes, wherein in order to avoid relative movement and/or deformation between the wire bundles and/or ropes as, for example, may otherwise be caused by high current loading, the individual wire bundles and the ropes are materially joined together at their points of contact, preferably by soldering, to form a mechanically rigid structure, in which the parts between the soldered areas can as well as possible deform elastically, thereby avoiding all disadvantages associated with freely movable wire bundles. • Patent number: 4336456
Abstract: A device for the sterilization of liquids by means of ultraviolet radiation whereby a low-pressure high-current mercury vapor lamp is used with a discharge tube as the radiation source wherein the cooling of the lamp is effected by means of an air flow circulating in the device and adjustment of the mercury vapor pressure by heating the cooled air in a heating device and the heating of a cecum-shaped piece of tubing with this heated air. In order to reduce the energy consumption during this heating phase, a mechanism is provided in the device in order to lead a first portion of the cooled air flow directly to the discharge tube of the lamp. A second portion of the cooled air flow, which is smaller in comparison with the first portion, is heated by the heating device and led to the cecum.

  • Patent number: 4336488
Abstract: A transformer which is suitable for connecting with a compound network and renders possible shifting the phase angle of the secondary side-output voltage in relation to the primary side-input voltage. The secondary windings are divided into winding stages and there are provided lines and switches, by means of which these winding stages can be selectively connected in series. Since the phase angle of the voltage in each winding stage coincides with the angle of the corresponding winding, it is possible to vectorially add in this manner partial voltages with different phase angles, so that at the output terminal of one winding there appears a composite voltage whose phase angle is aligned in the same direction as said one winding or, in relation to such direction, is shifted through a predetermined angle value in clockwise direction or in counterclockwise direction.
