  • Publication number: 20180112434
Abstract: An improved base shoe for use with the panel installation and removal system described in U.S. Pat. Nos. 8,122,654 and 8,201,366 is presented. The improved base shoe featuring dovetail grooves for use with a safety-seal weather seal, wherein the safety-seal weather seal must be installed prior to installing a glass panel. The safety-seal weather seal eliminates a safety risk incurred by installers who attempt to install a press in seal at an outboard base shoe to glass panel interface of an installed panel and base shoe. In an alternative embodiment, the improved base shoe features a recess for use with taper plates having a continuous projection along an upper surface. The base shoe and taper plates are configured so as to provide a prying surface between the projection on the taper plates and a wall of the base shoe.

  • Publication number: 20160369552
Abstract: A spacer for the through-glass mounting of door handles on insulated glass doors is presented. Through-glass mounting of opposing inner and outer door handles on insulated glass doors provides the handles with a “floating” on the glass appearance which is much desired by purchasers of such doors. The present invention spacer serves to reinforce the two, spaced apart, glass panes which comprise an insulated glass door in the region where through-the-glass mounting of opposing inner and outer door handles, is desired, The spacer features compression lips and sealing surfaces on each side of the spacer, as well as alignment flanges located about the interior periphery of the spacer and farther includes gaps between the alignment flanges, all of which aid in the construction of a mounting location on an insulated glass door.

  • Patent number: 9364121
Abstract: A fully frameless sliding shower door assembly includes a sliding panel of sufficient strength to be fully self-supporting and includes a stationary panel. The need for an upper horizontal header member is eliminated by using an upper guide assembly having a guide which is fixed to the sliding panel and configured to slide about a top edge of the stationary panel. A self-centering roller assembly is attachable to the sliding panel without the need for a rail member. The roller assembly and a track therefore feature matching inverted and non-inverted generally U-shaped profiles. The shower door assembly further features inboard and outboard roller finger guards, as well as a track leveling feature which improves ease of installation.

  • Patent number: 9284770
Abstract: An adjustable screen re don system is presented. The present invention screen retention system comprises a mesh Of perforate screen retained within a frame composed of frame members have channel cross sections. The screen is formed with a rolled or U-shaped edge hem. The edge hem having a free edge that folds inwardly over the inner face of the screen and is parallel to, and spaced above, the inner face of the screen. The framing members are channel section extrusions which contain features for retaining, tensioning and locking the screen. The adjustable screen retention system herein presented improves upon the prior art by providing a more secure attachment of the screen within the channel of the frame members thereby providing increased resistance to screen impact loading. The new system also provides for a broader range of screen of tensioning adjustment than has heretofore been available and further electrically isolates the screen from the walls of the channel.

  • Patent number: 9127504
Abstract: An improved corner assembly for use with metal framed, floating panel glass doors, windows or wall partitions is provided. The design provides improved structural integrity of frame corner joints such that rail twist and frame racking are minimized. The design features a corner assembly composed of extruded horizontal and vertical framing members where the horizontal framing member is equipped with an integral tongue. The tongue engages a mating groove in the vertical framing member. The sheer block is attached to the horizontal and vertical framing members via mechanical fasteners. Welds are provided at the intersection of the tongue and groove, and between the sheer block and horizontal framing member to provide for increased structural integrity.

  • Patent number: 9074413
Abstract: Rail, stile, wall jamb, mullion and sidelight rail assemblies for framing doors and wall partitions are presented. The rail assembly includes a rail body and a spring action clamping member. The rail assembly features geometry that utilizes wedging action to convert axial force exerted by clamp screws into a perpendicular clamping force against faces of the panel to be secured. The stile, mullion, wall jamb and sidelight rail assemblies present additional means for securing and framing a panel. The framing assemblies herein presented are particularly well-suited for use with insulated glass panels, i.e. glass panels constructed from two panes of glass which are separated by spacers.

  • Publication number: 20150164284
Abstract: A fully frameless sliding shower door assembly. The assembly dispenses with the need for vertical framing members by using a panel of sufficient strength to be fully self-supporting. The need for an upper horizontal header member is eliminated by using a unique upper guide assembly wherein the guide is fixed to the movable shower door and configured to slide about a top edge of the stationary shower door. The need for a lower horizontal rail member is eliminated by the use of a unique, self-centering roller assembly that is attachable to the door panel without the need for a rail member. The roller assembly features matching inverted and non-inverted generally U-shaped profiles on the roller and track, respectively. The shower door assembly further features inboard and outboard roller finger guards, as well as a track leveling feature which improves ease of installation.

  • Publication number: 20130291459
Abstract: A system for creating single and double pane window walls comprising mullions, sills, headers, other framing members and gasketing, is disclosed. The system features window pane framing extrusions which include provisions that allow the extrusions to snap together to create a framing member with a box-type cross-section. Experimentation has shown that the composite box sections have similar structural properties to unitary box sections, i.e. comparable moments of inertia and cross-sectional area and thus comparable ability to carry bending moment, transmit shear and resist buckling.
