Abstract: A continuous coating process for chewing gum and bubble gum materials. Small cores or pieces of gum material are introduced into inclined rotating drums in which heated air is circulated and a coating solution is applied (liquid or powder). The coating material is dried on the pieces of material, and a plurality of thin layers are formed on each of the cores or small pieces of material. A series of rotating drums can be provided to provide the requisite number or thickness of coating layers. In an alternate embodiment, initial coatings of material can be provided on the cores by a batch-type process before the materials are introduced into the continuous coating drums. The formulas for the coating solution can also be adjusted at different stages of the coating process in order to provide a more consistent and uniform coating.
Abstract: In some embodiments there is a a sweetener composition including (a) a co-crystallized/precipitated complex of cyclodextrin and sucralose; and (b) an encapsulant comprising a polymer.
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a composition including active region which includes an active such as sucralose and at least one coating layer contiguous with the active region.
Abstract: A delivery system for inclusion in an edible composition is formulated to have at least two active components with an encapsulating material for managing the release of the two actives relative to each other when used in an edible composition.
Abstract: In accordance the present invention a package assembly 10 for the storage and distribution of a plurality of mints 14 is provided comprising a bottom container 12 for the storage of the plurality of mints 14, the bottom container 12 comprising a bottom container base 16 and a plurality of bottom container sidewalls 18. The package assembly 10 also includes an upper cover 24 including an upper cover top surface 36. The upper cover 24 is mountable to the bottom container 12. An arched longitudinal detent 38 is formed in the upper cover 24. The arched longitudinal detent 38 is comprised of a detent surface 40 having a detent width 42, a detent length 44 and a detent depth 46. A delivery orifice 54 is formed through a portion of the arched longitudinal detent 38 and has an orifice width 56 and an orifice length 58. The orifice width 56 and the orifice length 58 are sized to allow one of the plurality of mints 14 to pass through the delivery orifice 54.
Abstract: A package assembly 10 for the storage and distribution of a plurality of stacked mints 12 is provided. The package assembly 10 includes a cylindrical outer shell 14 including a shell sidewall 16, a shell bottom surface 18, and a shell open top 20. The shell sidewall 16 includes a sidewall inner surface 22 and a sidewall outer surface 24. A vertical control slot 28 is formed in the shell sidewall 16, the vertical control slot 28 having a control slot height 40 and a control slot width 42. At least one retention protrusion 78 is formed onto a slot side edge 34 such that the control slot width 42 is reduced in the location of the at least one retention protrusion 78. A cylindrical inner insert 26 including an insert sidewall 44, an insert top surface 46, and an insert open bottom 48, is formed to house the plurality of stacked mints 12. The cylindrical inner insert 26 is positioned within the cylindrical outer shell 14 such that the insert open bottom 48 faces the shell bottom surface 18.
Abstract: A delivery system for inclusion in an edible composition is formulated to have at least one active component encapsulated within an encapsulating material, whereby the delivery system has a tensile strength suitable for delivering the active component at a desired release rate.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a method for providing dental hygiene which method employs a low moisture chewing gum or confectionery product containing as active ingredients, a combination of sodium bicarbonate and casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate. The invention also concerns the chewing gums and confectionery products that can provide dental health benefits and methods for their preparation.
Abstract: Method and system for continuously producing pieces of liquid-filled gum material. An extruded rope of liquid-filed gum is sized and separated into individual pieces of gum. A rotating drum mechanism having a die ring and cutter ring with mating die members separate the rope of gum material into individual pieces. Pairs of cam-operated plunger members compress and form the pieces of gum material in the die cavities. Angled grooves in the die members prevent portions of the gum pieces from being chipped-off during formation. Guide pin members are positioned between rider members on the plunger members. A feed chute with air assist transfers the gum rope from a sizing table to the rotating drum mechanism. A stripper member insures that the formed pieces of gum material are removed from the drum mechanism. Portions of the drum mechanism can be selective heated and cooled, or not cooled at all. The invention provides a more efficient system for continuous, high production operation.
Abstract: An improved process for continuously producing chewing gum products. A continuous extrusion machine is utilized preferably with a rotating twin-screw mixing mechanism. The timing and location of entry and the apportioned amounts of the flavor and sugar ingredients are adjusted according to preestablished data in order to provide a product with desired flavor and texture profiles. The temperature and pressure of the product are also kept within prespecified ranges.

Abstract: A reclosable package for storing elongated items, such as one or more sticks of chewing gum, includes a container having an opening for accessing an interior region of the container. The container has sidewalls that surround the interior region of the container and that extend from the opening toward a bottom wall of the container. The reclosable package also has one or more dividers disposed in the interior region of the container and extending between the container opening and the bottom wall. The one or more dividers define elongated slots adapted for receiving the elongated items in an upright orientation. A cap is hingedly connected to one of the sidewalls of the container. The cap is movable between a closed position in which the cap covers the elongated items stored in the container and an open position wherein the elongated items are accessible through the opening of the container.
Abstract: A composition in the form of a chewing gum composition or a confectionery composition containing stain removing agent selected from anionic and non-ionic surfactants and methods of preparing and using the same to remove stains from dental material including teeth.
