Abstract: A golf club head with a face component having a variable thickness and a coating on a rear surface of the face component that provides a flat surface to which a medallion can be affixed, and methods of manufacturing such golf club heads, are disclosed herein. The coating is made from a fill material comprising a polymer and a plurality of microscopic bubbles, which preferably constitute 5-70% of the volume of the fill material. The polymer material preferably is a polyurethane having a Poisson's ratio of 0.40-0.50.

Abstract: A method for forming a golf ball core with a nanofiller masterbatch is disclosed herein. The method includes mixing the nanofiller masterbatch, a graphene masterbatch material with other materials to form a core mixture, wherein the masterbatch preferably comprises 1-80% by weight of nanofillers and 20-99% by weight of a carrier polymer.

Abstract: A face insert for a golf club head, preferably a putter head, is disclosed herein. The face insert comprises a pair of stacked plates, each with a plurality of hinge features. The hinge features of the lower plate extend through openings in the upper plate so that the plates are locked together, and the edge surfaces of the hinge features combine to create a striking surface that increases topspin of a golf ball.

Abstract: A golf club head comprising a channel, a slidable weight that can be reversibly fixed at any point within the channel, and a pocket to store a portion of the slidable weight is disclosed herein. The slidable weight comprises first and second weight plates, each made of materials having different densities, a lightweight retainer, a screw, and a nut. The second weight plate has the same dimensions as, and is interchangeable with, the first weight plate and is disposed in a pocket in the sole proximate the face of the golf club head. The retainer and nut have snap-fit features that allow them to remain loosely attached to one another during adjustment of the assembly and when one weight plate is swapped with the other.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing golf club heads, and particularly putter heads, using metal injection molding and plasma polishing is disclosed herein. The metal injection molding process is facilitated with a base tool having a golf club head shaped cavity and interchangeable hosel core tools. The use of interchangeable hosel core tools allows a manufacturer to quickly and easily alter the overall shape of the putter head, and greatly reduces the number of base tools needed to create an entire line of putter heads with different hosel designs. This plasma polishing process yields a glossy cosmetic shine appearance, increases corrosion and rust resistance, and provides a smoother surface to which post process operations can adhere.
