Abstract: A dual check valve includes an upper housing, an intermediate housing, and a lower housing, and a first valve seat. The intermediate housing is coupled to the upper housing to define a first cavity, and includes a second valve seat. The lower housing is coupled to the intermediate housing to define a second cavity. A first disk is mounted in the first cavity and configured to selectively contact the first valve seat. A second disk is mounted in the second cavity and configured to selectively contact the second valve seat. When the dual check valve is in an open state, the first disk deflects away from the first valve seat to create a first gap, and the second disk deflects away from the second valve seat to create a second. The first gap is smaller than the second gap.

Abstract: A real-time locating system (RTLS) identifies individuals within a predetermined area associated with an infusion pump based on detecting signals from respective wireless transmitters associated with the plurality of individuals, the plurality of individuals including at least one of a caregiver or patient. The identifiers for the plurality of individuals are provided for display and selection at the infusion pump, and a selection of a selected individual is received via the infusion pump, and an association between the infusion pump and the selected individual is recorded. Data records of actions or events associated with the infusion pump with each of the plurality of individuals are recorded while the plurality of individuals are being detected within the predetermined area.
Abstract: A valve for controlling delivery of fluid includes a valve seat comprising a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet and a conical well having an opening, a beveled surface and a bottom, and a valve membrane comprising a conical potion having a base and a tip. The conical portion is configured to fit within the conical well of the valve seat. The valve membrane is configured to fluidly connect the fluid inlet to the fluid outlet when the valve membrane is in an undeformed position and fluidly disconnect the fluid inlet from the fluid outlet when the valve membrane is in a radially deformed position.
Abstract: A trocar assembly with an integrated scope-cleaning structure may have a proximal portion configured for accessibility by a user and a cannula extending distally from the proximal portion and configured to extend distally into a patient body, where the cannula is further configured to receive a distal end of a scope such that the scope can be maneuvered through the cannula to a location within the patient body. A cleaning element may be included, where the proximal portion includes a housing, where the cleaning element is substantially located within the housing.

Abstract: A method including receiving, in a main frame of a patient care unit, an infusion information from a medication delivery module coupled with the main frame is provided. The medication delivery module being mounted on a plug-in port associated with the main frame. The method also includes displaying, on a display in the main frame, an individual channel card including at least a portion of the infusion information from the medication delivery module and orienting an edge of the individual channel card toward a location of the plug-in port relative to the main frame, the edge having a visual indicator that visually indicates an orientation of the module associated with the individual channel card. The method also includes expanding the individual channel card to display a detailed portion of the infusion information upon receipt of a user selection. A system and a non-transitory, computer readable medium including instructions to perform the above method are also provided.

Abstract: A hair clipper includes a clipper body comprising a motor and a blade assembly connected to the clipper body such that the motor moves a blade of the blade assembly during operation. The blade assembly comprising a blade housing and the blade that extends outwardly from an opening in the housing and a linkage that is connected to the blade and biases the blade toward a fully extended configuration. Wherein, upon application of a force against the blade during use that is above a preselected threshold, the blade assembly includes a retracted configuration wherein the blade retracts into the blade housing using the linkage.
Abstract: Surgical clipper blade assemblies with hydrophobic coating layers and methods of use for hair removal from a skin area include using a surgical clipper blade assembly including a blade, a top surface, a bottom surface, a plurality of sidewalls disposed and extending between the top surface and the bottom surface, and an aperture configured to receive the blade, and a hydrophobic coating layer disposed on at least a portion of a top skin facing surface comprising the top surface and the blade. The surgical clipper blade assembly may include a plurality of ribs on the top surface, and the portion of the top skin facing surface may include the top surface, the blade, the plurality of ribs, or combinations thereof. During operation of the blade to remove hair from the skin area, the hydrophobic coating layer reduces friction forces and prevents risk of skin abrasions.
Abstract: A hair clipper includes a clipper body comprising a motor and a blade assembly connected to the clipper body such that the motor moves a moveable blade of the blade assembly during operation. The blade assembly includes a blade housing having a guide surface that faces skin of a patient during operation and a patterned array of ribs that are located on the guide surface defining a guide plane. The ribs of the patterned array of ribs are arranged spaced-apart from one another and are sized to provide a kinetic friction force against dry skin of the patient of less than 1 N using a normal force of 3.5 N.
Abstract: A patient care system is configured for infusing fluid to a patient. The system includes a plurality of modular fluid infusion pumps that each has a connector for connecting to a modular programming unit or to one another. Systems and methods are configured for verifying that the connectors are reliably performing their functions or communicatively connecting the pumps to one another or to the programming unit.
Abstract: Pending medication orders are presented on the controller of an infusion pump to which a patient has been identified. All pending medication orders are displayed on the screen of the controller and any may be selected by the clinician. Selecting a pending order at the controller that involves an infusion to the patient also results in automatic programming of the infusion pump in accordance with that order. Selection of an oral medication at the controller results, as does selection of any other order, in notification to the healthcare facility server that the order is being administered. Such notification resolves open controlled item transactions as well as provides information that may be relevant to a patient's EMAR. Selection of a pending order may occur manually or automatically through identification of a medication.
