Abstract: Near InfraRed NIR technology, including NIR cameras and detectors, are used to detect irregularity in the surface of a wood product. Based on the detected irregularities at various locations in a given wood product, one or more actions are taken with respect to a production process used to produce the wood product to ensure the wood product is put to the most efficient, effective, and valuable use.

Abstract: Near InfraRed NIR technology, including NIR cameras and detectors, and machine learning methods and systems, including one or more Machine Learning (ML) based surface irregularity prediction models, are used to accurately identify surface irregularities on a surface of a wood product, such as a veneer sheet or ribbon, and provide irregularity prediction data for the wood product. Based on the irregularity prediction data for a given wood product, one or more actions are taken with respect to wood product or the production process to ensure the wood product is put to the most efficient, effective, and valuable use.

Abstract: Hydraulic valve circuitry adapted for automatic weight-responsive control of load-clamping members of a load-lifting system having a free lift mast. The load-lifting system generally includes one or more fluid power actuator for applying a gripping force to a load, at least one elongate, longitudinally-extensible fluid power lifting device having a free lift range of motion and at least one main lift range of motion, and manually operated load-clamping and load-lifting selector valves. The hydraulic valve circuitry provides, independently, weight-responsive control of the load-clamping members when lifting a load, full-time automatic weight-responsive force control of the load-clamping members without concurrent manual actuation of load-clamping or load-lifting selector valves, and equalization of sensed load weight so that the sensed load weight is substantially independent of the longitudinally-extensible position of the lifting device.
Abstract: A load-bearing assembly including a clamping-force sensor in a pivoting support assembly that is adjustable to vary a radial spacing between a pivot pin and a clamp pad mounted on the support assembly. A plurality of clamping-force sensors may be included in a plurality of pivoting clamp pad support assemblies to support a clamp pad and may be arranged to sense the magnitude of a clamping force exerted by a particular adjustable pivoting clamp pad support assembly and send signals indicative of the magnitude of the force to a controller. A load sensor may be located between a pivot pin and a bearing block, or strain gauges may be mounted in the pivoting bearing block so as to measure forces carried through the bearing block. Force values sensed and transmitted to the controller may be used to evaluate and adjust the clamp arm assembly to grasp a load with a desired clamping force or distribution of clamping forces.
Abstract: A load alignment aid with range finding sensors positioned diagonally on a mounting platform to calculate range, vertical alignment, and horizontal alignment. Each sensor measures a distance (d) from the mounting platform to the load. Where d(1) does not equal d(2) and d(1) does not equal d(3), a misalignment due to tilt or chassis misalignment is detected. The aid further includes a display which may show a graphic representation of the approach to a load and an alert for misalignment notification.
Abstract: A hydraulic control circuit operable to selectively hydraulically link first and second hydraulic actuators and to bypass that hydraulic link.
Abstract: A leak detection system comprising a substantially sealed accumulation chamber adapted to accommodate a single gas container, the accumulation chamber being sealed so that when a gas container is in the accumulation chamber gas leaked from that container accumulates. An optical detector is provided for detecting leaked gas, the detector including an optical cell. A controller directs a reference sample to the optical cell and subsequently directs a sample from the from the accumulation chamber to the optical cell. The optical detector is operable use both the reference sample and the accumulation chamber sample to detect leaked gas.

Abstract: A foldable paper-based substrate coated with primer coat and top coat. Primer coat comprises a wax-free aqueous dispersion characterized in that a dry film thereof has a flexibility of at least 1 100% for a film thickness from about 1.0 to about 2.5 mm. Top coat is blocking resistant and comprises an aqueous dispersion of a polymer providing water resistance, grease or oil resistance, heat resistance, odor barrier, moisture barrier and/or heat sealability to the paper-based product. The top coat aqueous dispersion is characterized in that a dry film thereof has a flexibility of at least 570% for a film thickness from about 1.5 to about 2.5 mm. A process for preparing the coated foldable paper-based substrate comprises applying the primer coat to the surface of the paper-based substrate, applying the top coat and drying the coats. The primer coat may be dried before application of the top coat.
Abstract: A black and white image of a wood product, such as a veneer sheet, is captured with a first camera and a color image of the wood product is captured with a second camera. Computer processing of the black and white image is performed to determine dimensions of the wood product, the existence of voids within the wood product, and the presence of debris on the wood product. Computer processing of the color image is performed to determine whether colored defects are present in the wood product. A grade is assigned to the wood product based on this computer processing. The wood product can then be sorted based on the grade.

Abstract: A rolled product dispenser for dispensing a web of rolled product, comprising: a housing; and a dispensing assembly at least partially housed in the housing and interacting with the web of rolled product and including a dispensing roller having a rotation center and a peripheral wall with an upper section. The dispensing assembly can comprise an upper tensioning assembly and/or a lower tensioning assembly and/or a variable tension return assembly.
Abstract: A robotic manipulator is used to control the forces and angles applied on the strings during stringing of a lacrosse head. Precise string lengths may be implemented for certain features of the pocket. In some embodiments, the manipulator attaches the pocket to a lacrosse head and produces a strung head which has precise ratios of tension when comparing various strings within the pocket. One or more robot arms with end effectors such as grippers may be used. The forces used when tying each knot can be consistent throughout the pocket, or vary according to which particular knot is being tied. The tension of shooting strings and/or runners may be finely tuned in some embodiments.
