Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus includes a first polarizing plate, a liquid crystal display cell, a second polarizing plate, a switching cell, a first reflective polarizing plate, and a surface light source, which are arranged in this order. The apparatus further includes a control driving unit to switch the switching cell between a first and second state. In the first state, plane of polarization of polarized light emitted by the surface light source and transmitted through the first reflective polarizing plate and the switching cell is coincident with a transmissive axis of the second polarizing plate. In the second state, a plane of polarization of the polarized light input to the liquid crystal display cell from the side of the first polarizing plate and transmitted through the second polarizing plate and the switching cell is coincident with a reflective axis of the first reflective polarizing plate.
Abstract: A method of detecting a contact state of resistive touch panel device includes measuring a potential at both ends of a first resistive film, as viewed in a first direction, as a first-film-potential. At this time, the both ends of the first resistive film are short circuited, and a predetermined current is applied between both ends of a second resistive film, as viewed in a second direction. The method further includes measuring a potential at the both ends of the second resistive film as a second-film-potential. At this time, the both ends of the second resistive film are short circuited, and the current is applied between the both ends of the first resistive film. The method further includes deriving distance information between two contact points of the first and the second resistive film, based on the first-film-potential and the second-film-potential.
Abstract: A nail print apparatus which prints on a nail and a printing control method of the nail print apparatus. In one implementation of the present invention, the nail print apparatus includes a imaging section; a nail region information detecting section which detects an outline and an area of the nail region; a print design image generating section; an element position judging section which judges whether or not a design element is contained within the nail region; and a printing section. The print design image generating section positions a design element in a position in the nail region which corresponds to a position on a standard nail model an element to a value in proportion with a ratio of the area of the nail region to an area of the standard nail model.
Abstract: A keyboard device of the present invention includes a front guide shaft that is provided on the front portion of a front lid and projects toward sides of the front lid, a rear guide shaft that is provided on the front portion of a rear lid and projects toward sides of the rear lid, and a guide groove that guides the front guide shaft and the rear guide shaft in the front and back directions of a musical instrument case. The guide groove is provided with a guide recess where the rear guide shaft comes in so that the front lid and the rear lid are placed on the same plane when a keyboard lid is closed and covers a keyboard section.

Abstract: An electronic calculator makes a display section display an input mathematical expression when receiving an input of the mathematical expression from a user. At that time, a color is given to a component related to a predetermined operation symbol among components of the mathematical expression, and the component is displayed. Also a cursor is displayed in the same color as that of the component to which the cursor belongs. Thus, even when the mathematical expression is displayed in an arithmetic manner, each component of the mathematical expression and a position of the cursor can be easily distinguished from each other.

Abstract: In the present invention, when a backlash control operation is being performed, the position of a zoom lens at the time of image capturing and the captured image are stored in association with each other. Subsequently, an image processing section trims the periphery of the captured image in accordance with the focal length of a target position (WIDE end) and the focal length of the position of the zoom lens associated with the captured image, and enlarges the trimmed image to a normal size (size for use in a live view or a size of the image before being trimmed). Then, a display section displays the image subjected to the image processing as a live view image.
Abstract: A substitution area is kept in part of a display area of main data while that main data is displayed, and substitutes related data that is related to the main data for the main data, and displays related data in the substitution area. While related data is displayed in the substitution area, the size of the substitution area is increased or decreased in response to an instruction from a user. The user can change the size of the substitution area in real-time as necessary.

Abstract: The minimum Sum of Absolute Differences obtained by a motion vector search roughly judges the magnitude of quantization error by whether or not exceeding a predetermined threshold value. When the quantization error is lower, whether or not visually noticeable noise exists in some of the pixels of the current macroblock is judged based on the amount of flatness and noise detected in each of the 4×4 pixel blocks of the current macroblock partitioned into 16 sub-macroblocks.
