  • Patent number: 4673982
Abstract: A multiple frequency adaptive filter system for filtering undesired periodic and/or correlated interference signals contained in the same frequency band as a desired input signal. The filter system is capable of filtering at least two sinusoidal interference signals and incorporates a negative feedback loop having a transfer function of that of narrow band-pass multiple filter. The feedback loop using interference frequencies generates a corresponding interference enhanced output signal. This enhanced output signal is combined with the input signal whereby to produce an error signal which corresponds to the desired signal contained in the input frequency band. A double or quadruple filter system is also described as examples of the present invention. The filter system is suitable for removing modulated sinusoidal interference and particularly for reducing TV co-channel interference.

  • Patent number: 4589083
Abstract: The invention relates to an adaptive filtering system for cancelling one or more sinusoidal interference signal contained with a desired signal in an incoming signal. A phase-locked loop is used to track a sinusoidal interference frequency and to synthesize various synchronous in-phase/in-quadrature square wave signals. Each of these signals is weighted in accordance with variations in the amplitude and the phase of the sinusoidal interference signal and the weighted square wave signals are combined together with the incoming signal so as to deliver the desired signal substantially free from any sinusoidal interference signal. In the case of multiple correlated signals, the instant filtering system gives a steady state performance substantially better than that of the well known Widrow-Hoff adaptive notch filter.

  • Patent number: 4562470
Abstract: A digital system for removing, from a television signal, the electrical noise generated by faulty isolators from power lines. A thin horizontal segment noise detector locates possible noisy pixels (picture elements), and an image horizontal line verifier prevents false alarms given by the noise detector. An image corrector is provided to remove detected noise. The real time algorithm described in the invention is designed to provide a robust detector pseudo independent of noise waveforms, a memory window of three video delay lines, and a low cost digital hardware system.

  • Patent number: 4549456
Abstract: A noise damping guard for a circular saw blade of the type mounted for axial rotation relative to a material support plane disposed transverse to the cutting axis of the blade. The guard comprises a stationary lower guard section secured beneath the support plane and a pivoted upper guard section secured above the support plane. Each guard section comprises a guard frame supporting an inner pair of anti-friction metal plates secured in parallel-spaced relationship to one another to receive a saw blade therebetween and define an air gap between each side of the blade and an inner face of the metal plates. A spacer plate and a backing plate is secured to an outer face of each of the metal plates to prevent the vibration of the inner anti-friction metal plate and to provide an additional noise barrier and still further to maintain the metal plates in alignment. • Patent number: 4424280
Abstract: The disclosure describes ceramic foams, for example made of clay, and a process for preparing these foams. Once there is obtained a mixture defining a slip, the latter is caused to be foamed by the addition of controlled quantities of a gas, such as air, thus making it possible to reproduce foams having predetermined physical properties. It is preferable to dry the foam under conditions where the temperature is heterogeneous and in the absence of ventilation. This operation can be carried out by placing the foam under heating elements at a temperature between 30.degree. C. at the start to 100.degree. C. towards the end of the drying, while practically preventing any ventilation in the vicinity of the foam. This process is mainly advantageous in that it enables one to control the physical properties of the foam obtained thereby. This foam can be used as an industrial absorbent, acoustical insulating material, fire-wall, thermal insulating material, etc. by varying the density of the foam.

  • Patent number: 4313172
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for automatically measuring the thickness and the roughness of elongated articles, such as wooden boards. The device comprises a housing having an opening therethrough to receive at least a portion of a board to be measured. At least one contact probe is provided in the housing and is biased against at least one surface of the board to sense irregularities in the flatness of the surface along a measured length thereof.
