    Abstract: An apparatus for removing acid substances from hot flue gas includes a scrubbing device and a washing screen device. The scrubbing device includes reactors, each having two rows of outlet louvers, two rows of inlet louvers provided on two sides of the outlet louvers, two reagent beds, each being confined by one row of the outlet louvers and one row of the inlet louvers, and each containing a granular reagent, and an outlet channel confined by the rows of the outlet louvers to permit the gas to exit from the reagent beds. The washing screen device is mounted below each of the reactors and is operable so as to vibrate and screen the granular reagent falling thereon so that the granular reagent is retained on the washing screen device while wastes are allowed to pass through the washing screen device.

    Abstract: The primary object of the present invention is to provide a cold-rolled steel sheet with properties of high-strength, high-ductility, and a process for manufacturing it. The constituents of the cold-rolled steel sheet comprise: 0.08%-0.25% carbon by weight, 0.03%-2.0% silicon by weight, 0.6%-1.8% manganese by weight, 0.01%-0.10% niobium by weight, 0.01%-0.08% aluminium by weight, with the rest being substantially iron and unnoticed impurities. The process for manufacturing cold-rolled steel sheets of the present invention by using the molten steel material as described above includes the following steps:(a) preparing steel ingots by continuous casting the molten steel;(b) hot rolling the steel ingots into hot-rolled bands;(c) coiling the hot-rolled bands at a temperature below 600.degree. C.;(d) after cold-rolling, forming steel sheets from the hot-rolled bands and soaking the steel sheets at a temperature in the two-phase range (equal to AC1+10.degree. C.-AC3-10.degree. C. shown in FIG.

    Abstract: A bloom is heated and rolled by the flying shear system so as to produce a semi-finish rolled billet having a reduced cross section. A CLSI value, which is indicative of the uniform length of each of a number of product billets that can be cut from the length of the semi-finish rolled billet while maintaining predetermined optimum head and tail scrap lengths, is then calculated by the flying shear system. The cross section of the semi-finish rolled billet is corrected, so as to produce a finish rolled billet having an adjusted length, when the CLSI value is not within a safety billet length range, to thereby obtain a new CLSI value that falls within the safety billet length range. A flying shear cuts the semi-finish rolled billet or the finish rolled billet into the number of product billets when the CLSI value is within the safety billet length range.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus of dynamic heat treating the ferromagnetic amorphous alloys by applying AC current or pulsed high current on the alloys in the form of a ribbon are disclosed. The amorphous ribbon is continuously passed through a pair of electrodes from which AC current is conducted on the amorphous ribbon to perform a Joule heating. A DC magnetic field is applied on the amorphous ribbon preferably along a length direction thereof to improve the soft magnetic properties of the amorphous alloys. The DC magnetic field can be applied on either the section of the amorphous ribbon between the pair of electrodes or the section that has already been heat treated. With the method and apparatus, ferromagnetic amorphous alloys with improved magnetic properties such as greater magnetic induction, lower coercivity and low hysteresis loss are resulted and the annealing embrittlement is avoided.

    Abstract: A method of improving the magnetic properties of a ferromagnetic materials is disclosed. The method comprises a step of providing a specimen made of Fe, Ni or Co based amorphous alloys in a magnetizing field and a second step of applying an AC current or pulsed current on the specimen to improve its soft magnetic properties. The applied AC current has a frequency of 50 to 50K Hz, a wave form of either sine wave, triangular wave or square wave, and a current density of 10 to 500 A/cm.sup.2. The magnetic properties of the ferromagnetic materials are improved by a coercivity ratio less than 0.5, a magnetic induction ratio greater than 1 and a core loss ratio less than 0.3.

    Abstract: A steel composition consists of 0.08-0.25% by weight of carbon, 0.3-2.0% by weight of silicon, 0.6-1.8% by weight of manganese, 0.04-0.20% by weight of phosphorus, less than 0.10% by weight of aluminum, less than 0.01% by weight of boron if necessary, unavoidable impurities and balance iron. The composition is subjected to hot rolling under the condition that the coiling temperature is less than 600 deg C. and cold rolling. The cold rolled steel is heated for 1-10 min at a temperature (Acl +10) deg C. to Ac3-10) deg C., then cooled at a rate greater than 50 deg C./sec up to a temperature 350-500 deg C. with a holding period of 1-10 min at that temperature before final air cooling. The microstructure of the cold rolled annealed steel has ferrite, martensite and retained austenite, the percentage of the retained austenite being more than 8%, and the steel has a tensile strength of 70kgf/sq.mm and the value of the product of the elongation and the tensile strength is greater than 2400kgf/sq.mm %.

    Abstract: A process for determining the arrangement of the layered charges in a blast furnace prior to smelting. Positioned in the layered charges in the blast furnace are a plurality of upright tubes in each of which an eddy current probe is moved up and down. The layered charges are composed of alternate layers of coke and sintered iron ore. A first set of data indicating the position of the probe is obtained through an encoder, a position counter and a recorder. A second set of data indicating the content of the sintered iron ores in the charges at any level is obtained through an eddy current tester and the recorder due to the fact the sintered iron ores and the cokes are of different magnetic permeabilities. By contrasting the first set of data with the second set of data, the distribution of the sintered iron ores in the charges is detected.

By virtue of adding two non-ionic surface active agents in such an amount ratio, an excellent defoaming and cleaning effect can be obtained. Inclusion of hexamethylenetetramine in the cleaning composition can inhibit the deposition of ferric oxide and silicone oxide during electrocleaning which normally gives rise to the problem of light fault.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a Weak Pre-Deoxidation Process (abbreviated as W.P.D. process) for producing Al-killed and/or Ti-Killed steel. In this process the proper amount of Si-containing ferro-alloy is added into molten steel during tapping, as Weak Pre-Deoxidation, then the ladle is transferred to Al-Wire feeder system or ladle injection treating equipment to proceed final stage of deoxidation. Not only can the recovery rate of deoxidizer be increased by this new process, but also the cleanliness as well as surface and internal quality of products are effectively improved. Besides, the production cost will be reduced due to less deoxidizer addition, less billet conditioning cost, less rejection and less customer claim. Thus the W.P.D. process is a break-through in present steelmaking practice.
