Abstract: An eyeguard for use on the eye-end of an optical instrument is provided having an instrument-end member adapted for connection to the optical instrument, an eye-end member adapted to interface with the periocular portion of the user's face, a hinge member disposed between the instrument-end and eye-end members having two flexible annular hinges, and a diaphragm comprising a plurality of segments attached to the interior of the hinge member between the annular hinges. The force of the user's eye pressing the eye-end member toward the instrument-end member deforms the annular hinges such that the normally closed diaphragm segments move to an open position, allowing light to pass through the eyeguard.

Abstract: An HMA plant which uses combination direct exhaust heated and indirectly steam heated pre-heating drum in combination with a sealed indirect hot oil heated rotary shaft mixer, where the steam given off from the heated HMA is maintained, separated from the sulfur containing exhaust of a hot oil heater, so as to minimize the production of acid in liquid form.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of cooling a metal strip traveling through a cooling section in a continuous heat treatment line. In accordance with the invention, the method consists in projecting a refrigerant medium into the cooling section (4) onto the surface of the strip (1) to be cooled, the medium being constituted for the most part by a phase-change substance that passes into the gaseous phase at a temperature that is lower than the temperature of the strip (1) and without oxidizing said strip so that energy is exchanged within an endothermic process by a change in the phase of said phase-change substance.
Abstract: A work vehicle including an engine and a transmission operatively engaging the engine. The transmission has at least one input shaft and at least one output shaft, wherein a ratio of a rotational speed of the output shaft with respect to a rotational speed of the input shaft may be changed by said transmission. The work vehicle further includes a cutter drum operatively engaging said transmission and a controller, wherein the controller selects the transmission ratio based on an input of a user of the work vehicle.
Abstract: A system for installation of sheet pile including a sheet pile installation apparatus having a substantially rigid elongate beam with an upper end and a lower end, and at least one drive finger proximal the lower end of the substantially rigid elongate beam; and a sheet pile having an elongate member with an upper end and a lower end, and a first side and a second side, the first side having a male profile lock and the second side having a female profile lock, the sheet pile further including at least one receiver proximal the lower end for receiving the at least one drive finger of the sheet pile installation apparatus.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide processes for preparing thymus extracts and plant or fungal extracts, and more particularly provide compositions (Thyex-1-6A and -6B) produced in accordance with said processes, and methods for treatment of various conditions comprising administration of said compositions including but not limited to cancer. In preferred synergistic aspects, the inventive compositions (Thyex-1-6A and -6B) are administered in combination with a macrophage stimulating agent (e.g., beta glucan) for cancer treatment. Certain aspects relate to treating cancer, comprising: administering of a therapeutically effective amount of a thymus extract composition (Thyex-1-6A and -6B) in combination with administration of an extract of Houttuynia cordata. Further aspects comprise administration to a mammalian subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an extract of Houttuynia cordata, wherein treating or alleviating nausea is afforded. Combination or adjunctive therapies (e.

Abstract: A system and method for installing sheet piles using active gripping along side portions of the sheet piles. A sheet pile profile including first and second locking profiles and a gripping flange enables engagement of the sheet piles onto a mandrel for installation. Double engagement flanges on the locking profiles and an expandable connection between adjacent sheet piles provide improved resistance to fluid passage.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for inserting a sheet pile (10) into an earth formation using a protective housing (12) releasably connected to the sheet pile (10). The protective housing has a fluid gallery and conduits for releasing fluid such as water onto the base of the sheet pile without jetting water into the earth formation. The method and apparatus are particularly suited for driving vinyl and plastic sheet piles into highly resistant soils.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method of improving the cooling of a blown-gas cooling chamber or of a blown-air cooling section in a line for heat treating steel and/or aluminum, and/or of improving the quality of products for treatment by reducing the vibration generated by the cooling, in which jets of gas or air are projected against each of the faces of the strip traveling through said section or chamber.
Abstract: A composite wall system includes a foundationless wall substructure such as a sheet piling wall with a base portion embedded in the ground and an exposed portion extending above the ground, and one or more fascia panels or sheets such as synthetic simulated stonework panels applied over the foundationless wall substructure. Components of the wall system prevent debris from entering between the wall substructure and the fascia panels, and in seawall applications prevent water incursion and resist wave action.
Abstract: Concrete machine which is mainly composed of a chassis and of caterpillar drives, upon which the chassis is provided via arms, which arms can be adjusted in height, characterized in that the concrete machine is provided with a system for adjusting the chassis in height in relation to the arms.
