The first nonvolatile memory stores a boot loader and a kernel of an operating system in a compressed format. The second nonvolatile memory serves as a main memory of the device. A processor executes the boot loader to load the kernel from the first nonvolatile memory to the second nonvolatile memory in response to a boot command. When receiving an interrupt representing a shutdown command, the processor determines whether to clear the second nonvolatile memory in response to the shutdown command before actually shutting down the device.
