  • Patent number: 10499364
Abstract: In a general aspect, a motion detection system manages leaf nodes used for sounding by one or more access points. For example, an access point obtains presence information for a plurality of AP-leaf node links for a plurality of calibration periods. Presence activity is determined for each AP-leaf node link in each calibration period based on its respective presence information. Static leaf nodes are identified based on the presence activity for the plurality of AP-leaf node links in a calibration window, the calibration window comprising a number of the plurality of calibration periods. The motion detection system is updated to use at least one of the identified static leaf node as a sounding node for motion detection.

  • Patent number: 10498467
Abstract: In a general aspect, a motion detection system manages leaf nodes used for sounding by one or more access points. For example, an access point identifies one or more static leaf nodes based on presence activity of each leaf node in a calibration window. A health score is determined for each AP-leaf node link for each calibration window based on AP-leaf node link quality information. One or more of the static leaf nodes are selected to be used for sounding in the motion detection system based on the health scores for each of the AP-leaf node links. The motion detection system is then updated to use the selected one or more static leaf nodes for motion detection.

  • Patent number: 10460581
Abstract: In a general aspect, a method is presented for determining a motion-zone confidence. In some aspects, the method includes obtaining, from a database of a motion detection system, ranges of motion-zone parameters associated with respective motion zones in a space between wireless communication devices. The method also includes analyzing the ranges of motion-zone parameters to identify, for one or more of the motion zones, overlapping ranges of motion-zone parameters and non-overlapping parameter ranges of motion-zone parameters. The method additionally includes storing, in the database of the motion detection system, the overlapping and non-overlapping ranges of motion-zone parameters. The overlapping and non-overlapping ranges of motion-zone parameters are used to identify one of the motion zones based on a motion event detected by the motion detection system.

The method also includes identifying a subset of the wireless links based on a magnitude of their respective motion indicator values relative to other motion indicator values in the set of motion indicator values. The method additionally includes generating count values for the wireless communication devices connected to the wireless communication network during the time frame. The method further includes generating a probability vector based on the count values and comprising values for the connected wireless communication devices.

  • Patent number: 10438468
Abstract: In a general aspect, a location of detected motion in a space is determined. In some aspects, motion of an object in a space is detected based on wireless signals communicated through the space by a wireless communication system that includes multiple wireless communication devices. Each wireless signal is transmitted and received by a respective pair of the wireless communication devices. Motion indicator values are computed for the respective wireless communication devices. The motion indicator value for each individual wireless communication device represents a degree of motion detected by the individual wireless communication device based on a subset of the wireless signals transmitted or received by the individual wireless communication device. A location of the detected motion in the space is determined based on the motion indicator values.

Abstract: In a general aspect, a method for determining motion zones in a space traversed by wireless signals. In some aspects, the method includes obtaining, over a time frame, sets of channel response data based on wireless signals communicated over wireless links through a space between wireless communication devices. A time series of statistical parameters is generated for each wireless link based on a respective set of channel response data. The method additionally includes determining a plurality of motion zones in the space based on changes in the time series of statistical parameters for each wireless link. Sets of motion-zone parameters are generated that characterize respective motion zones of the plurality of motion zones. The method further includes storing, in a database of a motion detection system, the plurality of motion zones and sets of motion-zone parameters.

  • Patent number: 10393866
Abstract: In a general aspect, a monitoring system detects presence of an object in a space, e.g., when no motion is detected. Motion of an object in a space is detected by analyzing a first set of signals based on wireless signals transmitted in a first time period. Lack of motion in the space is detected by analyzing a second set of signals based on wireless signals transmitted in a second, subsequent time period. Whether the object was present in the space during the second time period is detected by analyzing the second set of signals.

Abstract: In a general aspect of the examples described, motion is detected based on bi-directional channel sounding. In an example, a first set of channel information is obtained from a first device. The first set of channel information is based on a first set of wireless signals transmitted from a second device through a space at a first time in a timeframe. • Patent number: 10228439
Abstract: In a general aspect, motion is detected based on statistical parameters of received wireless signals. In some aspects, signals are obtained. The signals are based on wireless signals transmitted through a space and received at a wireless communication device. Values of a set of statistical parameters are computed for each signal, and filtered values are obtained by applying a filter to the values of the statistical parameters. The filter includes parameters based on a signal quality analysis of the wireless signals. A motion detection process is executed to determine, based on the filtered values, whether an object moved in the space.
