Abstract: An oral care implement (100) having a head (120) that achieves an enhanced cleaning action during brushing. In one embodiment, the invention can be an oral care implement comprising: a handle (110) extending from a proximal end to a distal end; a head comprising: a cantilever (130) extending from the distal end of the handle; a spheroid (160) protruding from a front surface (131) of the cantilever; a rigid plate (140), the rigid plate spaced from the cantilever by a gap (151); and a first resilient material (150) in the gap flexibly coupling the rigid plate to the cantilever, the first resilient material encasing the spheroid and covering a rear surface (142) of the rigid plate and the front surface of the cantilever; a plurality of teeth cleaning elements (143) extending from a front surface of the rigid plate; and the rigid plate pivoting about the spheroid in response to brushing forces being applied to the head.
Abstract: Oral care compositions containing a stannous salt and sodium tripolyphosphate are provided where stannous tripolyphosphate ionic intermediates comprise less than about 1% of the compositions Tetrasodium pyrophosphate, a methylvinyl ether-maleic anhydride copolymer and/or a silica oral polishing agent may be added for further efficacy. In a single phase blend, the oral care composition may be effectively limited to comprise less than about 10% water. In a dual-phase blend, a mixture having the stannous salt in a first phase and the sodium tripolyphosphate in a second phase may be generated from a dual chamber storage tube (with each phase provided from a separate chamber) immediately prior to dental care usage.

Abstract: A method to assess perspiration reduction of a composition comprising obtaining an amount of water in stratum corneum in a first area of skin on an individual using confocal Raman spectroscopy, applying a composition to the first area of skin on the individual, having the individual perform an activity to cause the individual to perspire, and obtaining an amount of water in stratum corneum in the first area of skin on the individual after the activity using confocal Raman spectroscopy.
Abstract: An aqueous cleaning composition comprising a surfactant, a polyamine, and propylene glycol. The combination of the polyamine and propylene glycol will provide low residue and increased shine during wet and dry wiping and will provide anti-fog properties to a substrate after cleaning. The use of either the polyamine alone or the propylene glycol alone will not provide results meeting all three tests.
Abstract: A method of determining the effects of a test component on intracellular ROS levels. The method can be used in marketing or in screening for useful components in reducing ROS levels in cells adversely affected by increased ROS generation.
Abstract: An oral care implement having a head that achieves an enhanced cleaning action during brushing. In one embodiment, the invention can be an oral care implement comprising: a handle; a head connected to the handle and comprising a base structure (130) having a front surface (131), a rear surface (132), an island protruding from the rear surface of the base structure, and a passageway extending through the base structure from the front surface of the base structure to a rear surface of the island; a resilient soft tissue cleanser (170) on the rear surface of the base structure, the resilient soft tissue cleanser comprising an aperture through which the island extends; a mass (180) of a first resilient material positioned within the passageway so that a first portion (181) of the mass protrudes from the front surface of the head and a second portion (182) of the mass protrudes from the island, the island isolating the resilient soft tissue cleanser from the mass; and a plurality of teeth cleaning elements (105).

Abstract: An oral care implement has a head portion with tooth cleaning elements on one surface thereof and a reservoir containing at least one active agent. A capillary channel extends through at least a portion of the oral care implement to deliver active agent(s) to one or more outlets. In one aspect, a vibration-producing device is provided to vibrate at least a portion of the implement to enhance the function of tooth cleaning elements and the delivery of the active agent through capillary action. A variety of active agents can be administered for therapeutic, hygienic, and/or other benefits, such as fresh breath, tooth whitening, or producing sensations of heat, cool, or tingling.

Abstract: The method comprises an automated technique for making and inserting flexible laminate film barrier liners into the shoulder/nozzles of product tube packaging. The shoulder/nozzles are made and oriented with the shoulder opening to be facing the laminate film. The film is fed to a station that forms the nozzle aperture, die cuts the laminate film to fit into the shoulder of the shoulder/nozzle, and inserts this laminate film into the shoulder/nozzle. The laminate film can be heat bonded to the shoulder nozzle at this station or in a subsequent sealing station. After the shoulder/nozzle leaves the station that forms and inserts the laminate film into the shoulder/nozzle there can be a detection station to determine if the laminate film is properly aligned in the shoulder/nozzle. There also can be a detection station after a subsequent sealing station. Shoulder/nozzles with sealed laminate film liner are then sent to tube making.
