Abstract: An oral care implement or toothbrush 100 includes a head 104, a tooth cleaning element region 116 and a tissue cleaning element region 114. The tissue cleaning element region 114 includes a plurality of flexible, angled projections 120. The projections 120 are configured to flex from an at-rest position to a substantially flat position when the tissue cleaning element region 114 is in contact with the tongue and is pushed into the mouth. The projections 120 are also configured to flex to a substantially upright position when the tissue cleaning element region 114 is in contact with the tongue and is pulled out of the mouth. This arrangement aids in preventing debris from being pushed into the mouth and in removing debris from the mouth and tongue. The flexible projections 120 may be used in conjunction with rigid projections 122 having a generally vertical configuration to aid in removing debris from the mouth and in engaging the cheek to improve saliva production during brushing.

Abstract: Improved analytical, diagnostic, monitoring, and other methods (and their associated devices) for evaluating the extent of deposition of an agent onto a substrate are described. Exemplary methods may be used in the in the monitoring of the dental health of patients or in the fast, efficient screening and/or characterization of formulations in terms of their use for depositing oral actives onto tooth surfaces. The methods involve the direct or in situ analysis of substrates, onto which agents are deposited, using Near-IR spectroscopy and/or UV spectroscopy.

Abstract: A dental fluoride foam composition comprising an aqueous solution of a water soluble fluoride ion releasable salt, a surfactant selected from the group consisting of nonionic surfactants, zwitterionic surfactants, betaine surfactants and mixtures thereof; and an orally compatible acidifying agent in an amount sufficient to adjust the pH of the composition to about 3 to about 5. The composition is stable at low temperatures and is a clear solution substantially free of precipitates when held at 4.4° C. for 12 hours. When dispensed from a container into the trough of a dental tray, the composition forms a low density, rapidly collapsible foam which substantially liquefies in about 1 minute after being dispensed from the foam generating container and placed in contact with a patient's teeth.

Abstract: An oral care kit includes a sachet having a ring shaped reservoir for an oral care material configured around a central opening. The sachet has a first weakened portion for forming a dispensing nozzle. The oral care kit also includes an oral care implement sized so that a portion of the oral care implement fits through the central opening. The oral care implement is configured to be used to tear the first weakened portion of the reservoir.

Abstract: Cleaning compositions of surfactant-based products containing one or more alkaline builders for the preparation of liquid cleaning compositions are discussed. The surfactant-based product may be any type of cleaning product based on surfactants. Methods of cleaning a household surface and of making cleaning compositions are also discussed.

Abstract: Oral care compositions and methods are described in which the composition includes a chalcone color change component, which may be phenyl-3-methoxy-4-hydroxystyryl ketone. The color change component is induced to change colors by addition of saliva and/or by a change in pH of the composition. The composition and methods provide benefits including providing visual cues to the user.

Abstract: Structured personal care compositions comprising a particle having an aspect ratio of greater than 1.5 are contemplated, as well as methods for using such compositions. The compositions provide a visually distinguishable, oriented pattern that is aesthetically pleasant to provide consumer appeal and product identification.

Abstract: An aqueous and liquid cleansing composition comprises a fatty acid soap, a salt of a lauryl ether sulfate surfactant that is present in an amount that is at least 50% of the weight of the fatty acid soap, a betaine surfactant that is present in an amount that is at least 23% of the weight of the fatty acid soap, and at least 0.05% by weight of the composition of triclocarban. The lauryl ether sulfate and betaine surfactant in the specified amount in relation to the fatty acid soap amount keep the triclocarban from precipitating out of the composition.

Abstract: An oral hygiene device is provided having a head and a handle. The handle is configured to accommodate a user's hand grip when the head is inserted into a user's mouth. The head is further configured to accommodate, at a distal end of the handle, a proximal end of the head. One of the head and the handle is provided with a cavity configured to receive a supply of floss. The cavity becomes accessible when the head and the handle are at least partially detached from one another.

Also, a method of reducing wrinkles on fabric during laundering comprising laundering the fabric with a composition comprising 0.02 to 0.32% by weight of an amino-functional, epoxide group containing silicone polymer having a weight average molecular weight of 400,000 to 900,000. The polymer is unexpectedly effective at low levels of use.
