Abstract: This invention teaches an improved apparatus and method to make metal alloy castings, such as freight car yokes. One embodiment of the invention comprises a core mold assembly unit, wherein the mold unit is filled with molten metal. The core mold assembly units may be further formed of the same material, such as phenolic urethane impregnated sand, which is used to accurately replicate the desired shape of a final desired product.

Abstract: A device for automatically squeezing and releasing an AMBU-bag is disclosed. A device has a housing and a mechanical compression squeezer in the housing. There are openings in the housing for inlet tubes and outlet tubes of AMBU-bag to pass in and out of the housing. A powered actuator powers the compression squeezer. Alarms and signals provide information regarding excessive pressure and regarding bag cycling.

Abstract: A collapsible HVAC filter that includes a pleated filter media pack with ends that attach to ends of a planar filter frame member. The structure collapses by folding the filter frame member along score lines and compressing the pleated filter media while the media and frame member are attached. The collapsed components occupy little space relative to the expanded filter, and can be expanded to form a completed filter with little effort required by the end user. Most of the filter media is collapsed in a generally U-shaped channel formed from the folded filter frame member.
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for packaging perishable foods. A packaging method in accordance with several embodiments of the disclosure can include, for example, mating a tray with a product. The tray can include a compartment having a generally similar shape as the shape of the product. The method can further include gas flushing an internal atmosphere around a product, and sealing the product and the internal atmosphere between a lid and the tray. Additionally, the method can include pasteurizing the product with an application of substantially uniform high pressure to a surface area of the package (e.g., high pressure pasteurization).

Abstract: A composite filter media having excellent dust-releasing properties provided with a layer of netting formed of a low surface free energy material that is hot calendered to the upstream surface of a supporting layer formed of non-woven synthetic fibers. A filtering layer formed of non-woven synthetic fibers is laminated to the downstream surface of the supporting layer. The filtering layer may include an electrostatic charge to increase filter efficiency at a reduced pressure drop across the composite media.

Abstract: An air filter including a plurality of air-pervious sheets of electret filtration material. The sheets are disposed in a parallel relationship to form a stack of sheets, and each of the sheets has a plurality of slits formed therein for subsequent expanding to form openings. The stack is connected together at opposing ends, such as by bonding. The sheets can be pleated by mounting in a frame. The frame has opposing ends to which the opposing ends of the stack are mounted. The filter media initially has no frame and is not pleated, but is in a flat pad form that is expanded to be installed into a frame. The frame is then mounted in an appliance, such as a room air filter. When the filter is inserted into the filter housing it is expanded and can take a pleated form.

Abstract: A humidifier pad made of a plurality of laminated sheets connected together in a stack. Each of the sheets is made of a two layer laminate material made of a first layer of a rigidifying material, such as aluminum, and a second layer made of an absorbent layer, such as paper. The layers of each of the sheets are first laminated together, and then each sheet is slit and expanded in a conventional manner. Subsequently, each sheet is bonded to a next adjacent sheet to form a pad.

Abstract: A towing accessory for use in connection with a chain having a plurality of links includes an elongate body having a J-hook at one end and a T-hook at the other end. The J-hook has a hook portion that extends away from one side of the elongate body, and the T-hook has a T-cross that extends away from the opposite side of the elongate body. The elongate body also includes a central hole that is configured and sized so that adjacent links of the chain may pass therethrough, a first slot that extends from the central hole towards one end, and a second slot that extends from the central hole towards the other end. Both the first slot and the second slot are configured and sized so that a chain may be locked therein.

Abstract: Safety device for a child seat (10) in a vehicle, having a seat surface (12), backrest (13) and armrests (15), which comprises at least one catching element (16) which, extending approximately transversely above the thighs of a child sitting in the child seat, is mounted so as to be adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the armrests (15). The adjustment direction (18) of the catching element (16) runs at a predetermined angle (?), increasing from back to front, of preferably about from 5° to 20°, relative to the seat surface (12).
Abstract: A method for payment of a benefit to a survivor of a subsequent medical condition. Initial and subsequent information about a person is received, the information concerning at least one specified medical condition. The initial information is inspected to determine the state of health of the person, the state of health not being acceptable if the specified medical condition is present. If the state of health of the person is acceptable then the person is approved for payment of a specified benefit if the specified medical condition is later present. Subsequent information about the person is inspected to determine the state of health of the person, the state of health being changed if the predetermined medical condition is later present. The specified benefit is then paid if the state of health of the person has changed.
