Patent number: 5775546Abstract: A dispensing bulb having a squeezable body portion and integral squeezable neck portion having a pair of diametrically disposed vent holes. An adaptor is mounted in the neck portion and is provided with a cylindrical portion extending into the bulb neck portion beyond the vent holes and spaced radially inwardly therefrom. A dispensing tube is connected to the adaptor and communicates with the interior of the bulb. The neck portion of the bulb is squeezed to draw liquid into the tube, and the cylindrical portion of the adaptor limits the squeezing of the neck portion to prevent liquid from being drawn through the tube into the body portion of the bulb.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1997Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: Comar, Inc.Inventor: John D. Patent number: 5344035Abstract: A child resistant closure for a container wherein an outer cap is freely rotatable on an inner cap. A pair of oppositely extending latch tabs extend through passageways provided in the inner cap into recesses provided in the outer cap to couple the inner and outer caps for removal of the closure from the container. The latch tab members are connected to a manually rotatable hub so that the latch tab members are simultaneously moved to the coupled position. The recesses in the outer cap are provided with cam surfaces engagable with the latch tabs for automatically moving the latch tabs to the released position into the passageways during the securing of the closure to the bottle. Indicia are provided on the outer cap and hub member to indicate when the passageways and recesses are aligned and when the latch tabs have been extended into the recesses.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1994Date of Patent: September 6, 1994Assignee: Comar Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 5316161Abstract: A child resistant closure having an inner cap and an outer cap. The inner cap is normally biased into engagement with the outer cap for screwing the closure onto the container but the outer cap and inner cap become disengaged when the outer cap is turned in a direction to remove the closure from the container resulting in the outer cap being freely rotatable on the inner cap. Cooperating rigid fingers and teeth are provided on the inner and outer caps which become engaged when the outer cap is pushed downwardly to interconnect the inner and outer caps so that the closure can be removed from the container.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1993Date of Patent: May 31, 1994Assignee: Comar, Inc.Inventor: Frank V. Patent number: 5170900Abstract: A child resistant closure for a medicine bottle wherein an outer cap is freely rotatable on an inner cap. A latch assembly including a slidable latch member and a latch post are positioned between the top walls of the inner and outer caps. An aperture is provided in the top wall of the cap for observing the position of the post preparatory to sliding the latch member into engagement with the latch post for interconnecting the inner and outer caps for removal of the closure from the bottle. The inner cap is provided with a cam surface engageable with the slidable latch member for automatically moving the latch member out of engagement with the post during the securing of the closure to the bottle, and a tamper evident tab is removably connected to the outer cap to prevent the unauthorized manipulation of the latch member.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 1992Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Assignee: Comar, Inc.Inventor: David A. Patent number: 5144566Abstract: A print inspection method in which an area of printed material is optically scanned to obtain image data representing picture elements having variable intensity levels includes counting the number of picture elments at a particular intensity level in the area scanned to thereby generate a frequency distribution of the intensity level of the image data in the area scanned. The frequency distribution generated is compared to a stored reference frequency distribution of intensity levels of the image data. A statistical comparison with the reference data is utilized to determine whether or not the printed material is satisfactory.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1990Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Comar, Inc.Inventors: John K. Anderson, Michael S. Andrews, Robert S. Briggs, Jr., David M. Keathly

Patent number: 5088612Abstract: A vial cap of plastic having a skirt portion press fit onto the neck of a vial. A transversely extending wall having a central opening is integral with the upper end portion of the skirt, and a sealing disc is positioned between the open end of the vial and the transverse wall. A plastic lid having a plastic hinge integrally connected between the lid and the skirt is provided for closing the central opening of the cap during storage. By the construction and arrangement of the plastic vial cap, the fear of aluminum toxicity is overcome and the lid prevents the accumulation of dust and other debris on the sealing disc while the vial is in storage.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1991Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Comar, Inc.Inventors: James R. Patent number: 5016281Abstract: A system for counting overlapped newspapers delivered to a stacker which employs an optical sensor which is passive in nature. Accurate count is obtained by image analysis of the image presented by the edge of the newspaper flow as the image is focused on a linear CCD array. Definitive values are determined which are quantitative of the top profile, height, of the newspapers. The processing technique employed determines the rate of change of the height of the image and utilizes the rate of change data to output a newspaper count increment when the rate of change, derivative, of top profile height changes from a positive value to a negative value and the measured profile height exceeds a calibrated value thickness, and outputs two newspaper count increments when the measured profile height exceeds a second calibrated value thickness.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1990Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: Comar, Inc.Inventors: Susan G. Eppler, Robert M. Moorehead
