Abstract: Compositions for inhibiting the corrosion of metals which are contacted with water containing a chloride contaminant will comprise a mixture of a salt of a dicarboxylic acid and an aliphatic amine with a cyclic amine or a mixture of cyclic amines. The composition is exemplified by a salt of a dicarboxylic acid and oleylamine with a volatile cyclic amine comprising a mixture of pyridine, picoline, lutidine, aniline, quinoline, isoquinoline, toluidine, and heavy pyridine.

Abstract: FUEL CELL HAS BEEN PROVIDED HAVING AN ELECTROLYTE OF SOLID, FRITTED CERAMIC SUITABLE FOR OPERATION AT HIGH TEMPERATURES AND FOR OPERATION ON A HYDROCARBON OR HYDROGEN AS A FUEL AND OXYGEN OR OXYGEN CONTAINING GAS AS A COMBURANT COMPRISING OF: AS AN ELECTROLYTE, A CUBIC PHASE-STABILIZED ZIRCONIA; A CATHODE; AND AS AN ANODE, AN ELECTRON COLLECTOR AND AN OXIDATION CATALYST. A method for preparing the anode therefor has been provided as well as a method directed to the operation of said fuel cell.
Abstract: A catalyst useful for the hydro-treatment of hydrocarbons comprising, on a refractory inorganic oxide support, the following metals:A. from 0.02 to 2% of at least one platinum metal;B. from 0.02 to 2% of at least one metal belonging to the group consisting of zirconium, titanium, and tungsten;C. from 0.02 to 2% tin. This catalyst is preferably halogenated, typically with chlorine, from 0.4 to 2%.

Abstract: Method for dehydrating diols into diolefins and/or olefin alcohols by contacting said diols under dehydration conditions with a catalyst prepared by forming an intimate mixture of finely divided solid particles of at least one pyrophosphate and at least one acid orthophosphate of at least one metal belonging to the group consisting of lithium, sodium, strontium, and barium into a formed mass which is thereafter calcined to transform the acid orthophosphate into pyrophosphate.

Abstract: This application is directed to a method for regenerating catalyst values used in the synthesis of a diol; the synthesis consists of a hydroperoxide reaction with an olefin in the presence of water and a molybdenum catalyst; the regenerating process consists in treating the molybdenum catalyst residue (or a fraction thereof) with ammonia -- optionally after calcining -- and causing a diol to act on the ammonium molybdate so obtained; in one embodiment ammonia in gaseous form is passed in contact with a catalyst residue (not previously calcined) which is in solution; the reaction products in the synthesis of the diol are a hydroperoxide such as tertiary hydroperoxide of isopentane and an olefin such as methyl 2-butene; the diol synthesized in 2-methyl 2,3-butanediol; it is also the synthesized diol which is preferably reacted with the ammonium molybdate.
