  • Patent number: 5000251
Abstract: Method and apparatus (20) for obtaining a wire (12) of amorphous metallic loy, characterized by the fact that a jet (7) of molten amorphizable alloy (4) is contacted with a gas (55) capable of reacting chemically with at least one of the components of the alloy (4) before the jet (7) reaches a cooling liquid (9), so as to form a layer around the jet (7) which is capable of stabilizing it. A distance traversed by the jet (7) between the nozzle and the cooling liquid is greater than 1 cm.

  • Patent number: 4994126
Abstract: Certain elements in relief (11, 13) of a tread (1) for a radial tire are vided at least with incisions (41, 42, 43) which in cross-section have a fork-shaped outline with at least two branches (41B, 41C) forming an extension of a single part (41A), the number of incisions (41) in the element in relief (11, 13) being multiplied by a factor equal to at least 1.5 starting from the depth (h.sub.1) of the double-branched incision (41). Use of such treads for tires intended to travel on wet, snow-covered or icy ground.

  • Patent number: 4983227
Abstract: Carbon steel wire, which has been maintained at a temperature above the Ac3 ransformation temperature, is heat-treated to obtain a fine pearlitic structure by passing it through a tube containing a gas practically without forced ventilation and surrounded by a heat-exchange fluid. Certain relationships between the diameter of the wire, the diameter of the tube and the conductivity of the gas are to be satisfied to ensure cooling of the wire to a temperature below the Acl transformation temperature in a time prior to the time of the pearlitic nose and to effect pearlitization to completion under a nearly isothermal state.

  • Patent number: 4981542
Abstract: A device (1) making it possible to apply at least one thread (2) to a supt (3) and characterized by the following features:it has a front clamp (4) and a rear clamp (5) along a direction of advance (F.sub.1);it has means (6, 7) for opening and closing said clamps (4, 5);it has means (8) permitting the displacement of the rear clamp (5) in the direction of advance (F.sub.1) or in a direction (F.sub.2) opposite to the direction of advance (F.sub.1); andit has means (9) for displacing the thread (2) in transverse directions. The invention also concerns the process used in the device (1) as well as the assemblies obtained with this device (1) and this process, these assemblies being, for instance, reinforcing plies used in pneumatic tires.

  • Patent number: 4981162
Abstract: Portable reinflator for a tire of a vehicle, to be connected to an electric ource of the vehicle and to the valve of the defective tire includes an electric connector, a compressor, a rotary seal and a valve coupler. The reinflator also includes an electric connection running from the connector to the compressor, a first pneumatic line running from the compressor to the rotary seal, and a second pneumatic line running from the rotary seal to the valve coupler. The portable reinflator is used in repairs to replace air inside the tire as it escapes from the tire in the case of puncture.

  • Patent number: 4961453
Abstract: A wheel rim includes a collar and a seat separate from the collar. Between he collar and a bead, there is provided, axially in the mounting plane, a clearance which facilitates the mounting of the bead on the inside of the edges of the wheel rim. Then, the seat is inserted which eliminates the mounting clearance and keep the bead centered in relation to the wheel rim.

  • Patent number: 4946525
Abstract: The process for the butt connecting of the edges of a rubberized fabric wh is formed of reinforcement elements which are parallel to each other and spaced apart by a pitch p by injecting under pressure and heat between the reinforcement elements of the edges spaced apart by an amount d greater than 1.5 p, a rubber mix having properties of coherence and stretching in raw state which are greater than the same properties of the coating mix of the reinforcement elements. In the tire produced from such a fabric, the welding mix has a modulus of elasticity in tension which is greater than said modulus of the coating mix of the reinforcement elements of the radial carcass reinforcement.

  • Patent number: 4922984
Abstract: To assure inflation of a tire 2 during its rotation, a hose 3 is placed on he inside periphery of rim 1. A pressure roller 5, solid with the wheel carrier and therefore non-rotatable, causes a local reduction in the section of hose 3. During rotation of tire 2, air is forced from an orifice 31 forming an air intake, to an inside volume 20 of tire 2, via a check valve 4. To provide deflation, a roller rests on a pusher which controls the opening of valve 4.

  • Patent number: 4917501
Abstract: A rotor for an internal mixer includes blades whose profile assures a suile stress of the rubber between the blade and the inside wall of a chamber. This profile includes a gradual convergent surface, a fine passage surface, a gradual divergent surface and then a zone of break in the continuity of the profile, called a setback, followed by a steeper divergent surface.

  • Patent number: 4843872
Abstract: Support intended to receive an electric element made of one or more sensors ntended to monitor the condition of a tire, and to keep the element on a rim while assuring electrical and thermal insulation relative to said rim. The support has at least two electric lines for connection to a coupling located on the outside of the pneumatic enclosure. Each electric line is formed of a length of electric wire sufficient in length to make a connection between the electric wire and terminal of the electric element, even when the electric element and support are separated. The support has a recess in which the excess length of electric wire is spontaneously housed when the element is brought into mounting position on the support.
