  • Patent number: 4660896
Abstract: An anti-skid brake control system comprises a detector for detecting the peak value of wheel acceleration in each cycle of skid control. Braking pressure is increased in step-wise fashion by alternately operating a pressure control valve between an application mode in which working fluid is supplied to a wheel cylinder to increase the braking pressure and a hold mode in which the wheel cylinder is blocked from fluid communication to a hydraulic brake circuit to hold the braking pressure constant. The duration for holding the pressure control valve in the application mode is adjusted depending upon the detected peak value of wheel acceleration, whereby an average increasing rate of braking pressure is variable depending upon the peak value of the wheel acceleration.

  • Patent number: 4660535
Abstract: A system and method for controlling an ignition timing of an internal combustion engine. In the system, an accumulated value of a deviation or a value corelative to the accumulated value is calculated as an error amount whenever the deviation between a crank angle value at a time when pressure in a combustion chamber has reached its maximum and a target value thereof, whether the error amount exceeds a predetermined allowable limit value is determined whether the error amount is calculated, a corrective amount of ignition timing is calculated when the error amount exceeds the predetermined allowable limit value. Consequently, the correction of ignition timing can be carried out in a quick response during the ransient driving state of engine and engine drivability can be improved.

  • Patent number: 4660520
Abstract: An apparatus responsive to a change in the position of an accelerator pedal for controlling movement of a throttle valve situated within an induction passage. The apparatus includes a control circuit which determines new and minimum values for the position of the accelerator pedal and determines a demand value corresponding to a setting of the position of the throttle valve as a function of the difference between the new and minimum values. The control circuit substitutes the new value for the minimum value when the accelerator pedal remains released and placed at the same position for a predetermined time.

  • Patent number: 4660795
Abstract: A seat slider device for an automotive seat is specially configured to minimize its height. An upper rail fixed to the bottom of the seat slidably engages a lower rail fixed to the floor. The rails have flanges along one edge which engage via a bearing. A plurality of regularly spaced holes are formed in the other edge of the lower rail. A lock lever mounted on the upper rail is manually actuable into and out of engagement with the holes in the lower rail, in which former case, the upper rail and the seat are held securely in place relative to the lower rail and the floor. Since the bearing and the locking holes are on opposite sides of the lower rail, they are free to lie in the same horizontal plane.

  • Patent number: 4660567
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for linearly pressurizing a cuff, affixed to the limb of a patient, with gas from a liquified gas tank, monitoring Korotkoff sounds that appear and disappear during cuff pressurization to ascertain approximate systolic and diastolic blood pressures as cuff pressurization is in process, halting pressurization at a point slightly higher than the approximate systolic blood pressure and then immediately depressurizing the cuff at a regulated rate to actually measure and determine true systolic blood pressure. Following the determination of systolic blood pressure, the cuff is depressurized at a rapid rate down to a point slightly higher than the approximate diastolic blood pressure and is then depressurized again at the regulated rate again to actually measure and determine true diastolic blood pressure.

  • Patent number: 4658787
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling an internal combustion engine. The amount of fuel delivered to the engine is controlled in direct proportion to the rate of air flow introduced into an engine cylinder. The timing of ignition of the engine in controlled based upon a difference between the actual torque actually produced on the engine output shaft and the ideal torque required on the engine output shaft at the engine speed, thereby bringing the actual torque quite close to the ideal torque.

  • Patent number: 4660146
Abstract: An anti-skid control system takes a procedure for sampling input time data of every given number of sensor signals, which given number is adjusted so as to a difference of period of time measured with respect to mutually adjacent signal-to-signal intervals is great enough to perform the anti-skid control operation based thereupon. The anti-skid control system processes sampling operation as a job to be performed by interrupting main job for deriving control signal for increasing, decreasing or holding the fluid pressure to be applied to the wheel cylinder. The occurrences of interruption are counted up whenever it occurs and counted down upon each cycle of main job is completed. The job for sampling the input time data a performed at each time of inputting of the every given number of sensor signals.
