  • Patent number: 4650210
Abstract: A saddle-type vehicle for operation on irregular and uneven ground, wherein a pair of rear suspension arm assemblies each connected pivotally to the rear part of a main frame of the vehicle. The assemblies have suspension arm portions connected operatively at their middle points to the lower end of a shock absorber, and rear end portions disposed at a higher and/or inner position than front end portion thereof. The main frame has a pair of lower tubes connected rigidly with a corresponding pair of upper tubes by way of connecting members. The pair of lower tubes are formed at their midway portions to provide holding members for the front end portions of the suspension and these holding members are directed in the same direction as swing axes for the suspension assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4648816
Abstract: Two shafts each containing a gear wheel or gear are each journalled in two bearing bushes. Each bearing bush is mounted in an end or closure bush laterally inserted into a housing. The end bushes each comprise a collar at the axially inner end thereof which overlaps the inner end of the associated bearing bush. The end bushes are each secured to a respective holder or retaining ring which is received in a countersink formed in the housing and which is firmly held intermediate the housing and a cover member. Consequently, the bearing bushes may be separated from the associated shafts by axially displacing the shafts within the housing after removal of the cover members.

  • Patent number: 4648790
Abstract: In an axial turbine for exhaust gas turbochargers, the inner wall of the rotationally symmetrical exhaust gas deflection duct is designed as a deflection collar rigidly connected to the turbocharger shaft and rotating with it. The outer diameter of the deflection collar is greater than the diameter of the turbine disc and, at maximum, equal to the outer diameter of the turbine rotor. An element for contactless sealing of the exhaust gas deflection duct is provided between the rotating deflection collar and the casing. The element for contactless sealing of the deflection duct preferably consists of two labyrinth seals located on a cylindrical surface opening inwards, the sealing air being supplied radially from within between the labyrinth seals by means of a sealing air duct.

  • Patent number: 4647837
Abstract: A reactive-power compensator for compensating a reactive current component in an alternating-voltage system, including a reactive-current converter formed by forced-commutation current converter rectifiers arranged in a current converter bridge circuit, and a smoothing choke used as a termination at the direct-current side of the bridge circuit. The compensator attains constant compensation of both inductive and capactive reactive-current components with clearly reduced system reaction by driving the rectifiers such that the bridge circuit accepts at its input a compensation current in the form of approximately rectangular current pulses having a pulse frequency greater than that of the alternating voltage system. The polarity and width of these current pulses are modulated in accordance with a sine function so that the compensation current is identical in frequency and amplitude with respect to the reactive current component at the system voltage input, but shifted in phase by 180.degree..

  • Patent number: 4647069
Abstract: An automotive suspension system includes a height control system for controlling vehicle height and a damping force adjusting system for adjusting damping force produced by a shock absorber. The height control system and the damping force adjusting system are coordinated such that the damping force is decreased when the height control system shifts the vehicle body upwards, and the damping force is increased when the height control system shifts the vehicle body downwards. Furthermore, the height control system is responsive to the height of the vehicle body and the vehicle speed to shift the vehicle body up and down so that the vehicle body is held to within a predetermined range of height.
