  • Publication number: 20220395268
Abstract: Methods and devices for securing soft tissue to a rigid material such as bone. A tissue capture anchor is described that comprises an anchor body and a spreader such that tissue may be captured or compressed between outside surfaces on the anchor and spreader and inside surfaces of a bone hole to secure the tissue within the hole. A bone anchor is described that comprises an anchor body with expandable tines and a spreader that expands the tines into bone. The spreader captures tissue via a suture loop at the distal end of the bone anchor. Also described is an inserter that can be used to insert the anchor into bone and move the spreader within the anchor to expand the anchor and capture the tissue between the anchor and the bone. Methods are described that allow use of single bone anchor to secure tissue to bone or also to use more than one bone anchor to provide multiple lengths of suture material to compress a large area of soft tissue against bone.

  • Patent number: 11510686
Abstract: A drill assembly for creating a reverse counterbore bone tunnel while increasing bone preservation. The drill assembly including a housing having an actuation mechanism and a cannulated shaft connected to the actuation mechanism. The drill assembly also includes a rigid rod extending through the cannulated shaft. Engaging the actuation mechanism moves the cannulated shaft along the rigid rod. The drill assembly additionally includes a distal tip connected to the cannulated shaft and the rigid rod. Proximal movement of the cannulated shaft along the rigid rod causes the distal tip to rotate from a first configuration to a second configuration. In the second configuration, the distal tip extends at an angle relative to the cannulated shaft.

  • Patent number: 11504110
Abstract: A locking suture construct having suture material with a first end and a second end, each attached to a first body in a slidable manner, a constricting member formed in the second end of the suture material, and a bight in the suture material between the first end and the second end. The bight can be pulled through the constricting member around a second body to create a locking loop. The first end and the second end are passed through the locking loop. Pulling the first end increases a perimeter of the locking loop and moves the constricting member toward the second body. When the constricting member reaches the second body, pulling the first end reduces the perimeter of the locking loop and moves/rotates the constricting member around the second body toward the first body to hold the first body in relative position to the second body.

  • Patent number: 11490897
Abstract: A surgical clip for a clip applier to ligate vessels. The clip contains two opposing legs connected in parallel by an apex to form a U-shape. Each leg has an outer surface with a half-round cross-sectional configuration for minimizing tissue damage by preventing clip scissoring during ligation. Each leg has an inner surface with a flat central surface, two concave grooves on opposing sides of the central surface, and two convex ridges on opposing sides of each groove. As a vessel is ligated, vessel tissue moves into the concave grooves while remaining frictionally engaged by the compressive forces applied by the central surfaces and convex ridges of leg so that the clip does not move on the vessel. The edges of the grooves and the edges of the ridges of each leg are rounded to prevent any cutting of the ligated vessel.

  • Publication number: 20220346816
Abstract: A surgical instrument that limits the amount of force that a user can apply to the jaws of a surgical instrument by decoupling the handle lever from the drive shaft if the handle lever is moved beyond the closed position. A handle lever and a secondary lever are interconnected by a spring that can decouples the handle lever from the secondary lever when too much force is used. The handle lever and the secondary lever may be interconnected by a link pivotally interconnected both the first lever and the second lever, or the handle lever and the secondary lever may be mounted to a common pivot point. In the former, the spring is configured to bias the handle lever and the secondary lever together, and in the latter the spring is configured to bias the handle lever and the secondary lever apart.

  • Patent number: 11452622
Abstract: A workstation having a pair of posts on either side of a clamping plate where a donor bone may be placed on sequentially cut in three separate cutting paths. Cutting gates are attached to the posts and used to provide cutting paths that can be precisely oriented with respect to the meniscus of the donor bone part using visual alignment without any manual measurements. The graft is affixed to a machining clamp and shaved to appropriately shape the sides and form a radius on the bottom of the graft. A tibia is then prepared by using a drill guide to form a pilot hole and then to drill out a large hole for the graft. The drilled hole is expanded and shaped using a rod guide and chisel and then a rasp. The shaped graft may then be implanted into the shaped hole and sutured in place.
