  • Publication number: 20230218288
Abstract: A self-punching lateral row driver. The driver includes a handle assembly comprising a strike surface and retention cleat, a suture cleat, and a handle body. The handle body is rotatable relative to the suture cleat. The driver also includes a driver tube assembly extending from the suture cleat and an anchor assembly. The anchor assembly includes a proximal screw and a distal anchor with a self-punching tip. The anchor assembly is connected to the driver tube assembly. In a pre-deployment configuration, the screw and the anchor are spaced along the driver tube assembly and in a post-deployment configuration, the screw abuts or engages the anchor. The rotation of the handle with respect to the suture cleat moves the screw from the pre-deployment configuration to the post-deployment configuration.

  • Publication number: 20230210518
Abstract: A suture cutter that can easily load and retain a tensioned or un-tensioned in place for cutting. The cutter has a handle with a an integral lever and a shaft is coupled to and extending from the handle. A tip has a cutting channel with a cradle for entrapping a suture prior to cutting. A piston in the handle drives a blade pusher to cut the suture in response to movement of the lever. A guide assembly in the body is formed from a pair of members folded together via a living hinge to provide a slot for the head of the piston. The pusher is planar and oriented horizontally within the shaft, while the blade is planar and is oriented vertically at right angles to the pusher. The blade has a tab that is captured by a notch in the pusher to interlock the blade and the pusher.

  • Publication number: 20230210513
Abstract: A deployment device for an all suture anchor having a braided anchor and a suture filament extending through the braided anchor. A fork extends longitudinally through the body of the device and is moveable between an extended position and a withdrawn position to position and then release the braided anchor. A ratchet wheel drives a spool coupled to the ratchet wheel by a frangible link to wind up the suture filament to deploy the braided anchor. When sufficient tension is achieved to fully deploy the braided anchor, the frangible link will break, thereby releasing the suture filament to leave the deployed braided anchor in place with the suture filament extending from the pilot hole. All operations are accomplished by one lever that selectively withdraws the fork, rotates the ratchet wheel, and then allows release of the filament with the use of just a single hand.

  • Publication number: 20230135038
Abstract: A broaching punch for creating osteotomies that has a tip with helical broaching features extending along the outer surface to a tip. The helical broaching features are each formed by an edge that extends outwardly from and around the body of the tip and characterized by a predetermined angle, depth, spacing, and arrangement of various dimensional combinations that slowly and progressively broaching more and more bone material away during insertion, thereby slowly growing the diameter of the osteotomy until it reaches the desired diameter. Tapping features may be included proximately to the broaching features to allow for a newly formed hole to be tapped with threads.

  • Patent number: 11627955
Abstract: An all-suture anchor for generating bone compression and increasing interference fixation. The all-suture anchor includes a fibrous construct which is movable between a pre-deployment configuration and a deployed configuration. The fibrous construct has a first density. The all-suture anchor also includes a monofilament woven through the fibrous construct. The monofilament has a second density, which is different than the first density. The contrasting densities (i.e., irregularities) aids in the “locking” ability of the all-suture anchor by greater purchase in hard and soft bone. The all-suture anchor can have a variety of textures, barbs, and rigidities that aid in creating irregularities within the bone surface for more secure fixation.

  • Publication number: 20230116075
Abstract: A workstation having a pair of posts on either side of a clamping plate where a donor bone may be placed on sequentially cut in three separate cutting paths. Cutting gates are attached to the posts and used to provide cutting paths that can be precisely oriented with respect to the meniscus of the donor bone part using visual alignment without any manual measurements. The graft is affixed to a machining clamp and shaved to appropriately shape the sides and form a radius on the bottom of the graft. A tibia is then prepared by using a drill guide to form a pilot hole and then to drill out a large hole for the graft. The drilled hole is expanded and shaped using a rod guide and chisel and then a rasp. The shaped graft may then be implanted into the shaped hole and sutured in place.

  • Publication number: 20230087218
Abstract: A drill assembly for creating a reverse counterbore bone tunnel while increasing bone preservation. The drill assembly including a housing having an actuation mechanism and a cannulated shaft connected to the actuation mechanism. The drill assembly also includes a rigid rod extending through the cannulated shaft. Engaging the actuation mechanism moves the cannulated shaft along the rigid rod. The drill assembly additionally includes a distal tip connected to the cannulated shaft and the rigid rod. Proximal movement of the cannulated shaft along the rigid rod causes the distal tip to rotate from a first configuration to a second configuration. In the second configuration, the distal tip extends at an angle relative to the cannulated shaft.

  • Publication number: 20230083584
Abstract: A power delivery approach for delivering power to an electrosurgical vessel sealer when the jaws of the sealer surround tissue to be desiccated. Power delivery commences at a starting point that is at least 40 Joules and then decreases over a first predetermined period of time to a predetermined minimum power level to provide approximately 15 Joules in total. When the predetermined minimum power level is reached, power is then continuously increased over a second predetermined period of time to fully desiccate the tissue. Power delivery is terminated prior to over-desiccation of the tissue.

  • Publication number: 20230072071
Abstract: A surgical instrument that will automatically clear any debris from a knife pathway in response to normal operation of the knife. The instrument has a pair of jaws formed from a first jaw member and a second jaw member that are pivotally mounted with respect to each other for movement between an open position and a closed position. The jaw members support sealing surfaces that have tracks formed therein to define a knife pathway for a knife blade used to sever sealed tissue that is trapped in the jaws. Each jaw member has a slot aligned with the distal end of the track to provide a point of egress for debris that accumulates in the knife track. As the knife is advanced along the knife pathway during normal operation, any debris will be driven toward the distal end of the knife pathway and out of the slots.
