Patent number: 11943548Abstract: An apparatus and a method using no switching elements for multiplexing and reading arrays of sensors whose electrical resistance is modulated by the signals to be measured are proposed. Sensor elements are arranged in groups and columns where each column is fed with a continuous voltage waveform of different amplitude, frequency and phase characteristics which then produce current signals that are modulated by the variable resistance signals to be measured. Modulated currents are summed row-wise and collected at the read-out circuits, either by applying a constant voltage to each row of the array or by connecting a capacitor and converting these current summations into output voltage signals. The read-out circuits de-multiplex each individual sensor signal to be measured by lock-in demodulation according to the frequencies and phases employed for the stimulation of each column.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 2019Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignees: CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICAS (CSIC), UNIVERSITAT AUTÒNOMA DE BARCELONA, FUNDACIÓ INSTITUT CATALÀ DE NANOCIÈNCIA I NANOTECNOLOGIA (ICN2), INSTITUCIÓ CATALANA DE RECERCA I ESTUDIS AVANÇATSInventors: Anton Guimerà Brunet, Lluis Antoni Terés Terés, Michele Dei, Jose Agustín Cisneros Fernández, Francisco Serra Graells, José Antonio Garrido Ariza

Patent number: 11921110Abstract: A method for controlled production of an array of planar microparticles with the multiplexing of molecules on the surface thereof, intended to function as molecular sensors and/or actuators and a matrix (array) of microparticles, the surface thereof being printed with all of the molecular components required to provide the surface with functionality. Different molecular elements are multiplexed on the surface of each particle while they are supported on a substrate by means of a structural foot engraved below the particle. These microparticles can be released mechanically from the support on which they are produced using a controlled mechanical rupture method which is not chemically aggressive and therefore does not affect the molecules previously printed on the surface. The array and the particles contained therein offer great versatility in both chemical and/or biological applications.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2022Date of Patent: March 5, 2024Assignee: CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICAS (CSIC)Inventors: Jaume Esteve Tintó, José Antonio Plaza Plaza, Marta Duch Llobera, Núria Torras Andrés, María Luisa Pérez García, Juan Pablo Agusil Antonoff

Patent number: 11808673Abstract: Disclosed are apparatus and methods for sampling air-borne particles. According to one embodiment a nozzle is used to generate a jet of fog that includes a gas and liquid droplets of different sizes. The jet of fog is formed by the nozzle in a way to cause particles in the air surrounding the jet of fog to be drawn into the jet of fog and to further cause the particles to aggregate with the liquid droplets inside the jet of fog. A sample collecting surface is located opposite and spaced apart from an outlet of the nozzle. The sample collecting surface is preferably sloped so that the liquid sample can be forced by gravity off the collecting surface and into a vial or other liquid sample container. Inside the jet of fog and on the sample collection surface the liquid droplets merge with one another to form larger sized droplets that are collectable in the liquid sample container.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2022Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Assignees: COUNTERFOG CORPORATION, CONSEJO SUPERIOR DE INVESTIGACIONES CIENTÍFICASInventors: José Luis Pérez Díaz, Antonio Alcamí Pertejo

Publication number: 20230241365Abstract: A wearable device for transdermal product supply comprises a head, which houses two ultrasonic resonators in resonance, with an outer cavity. A first, more distal resonator emits towards the skin at a first frequency and a second, more proximal resonator surrounds the cavity and emits parallel to the skin at a second frequency. One frequency is high-frequency sonophoresis (HFS) and the other is low-frequency sonophoresis (LFS). The second resonator comprises a hole in order to enable the waves from the first resonator to pass through. The waves from the second resonator pass through the head, the hole and the cavity, bouncing off an opposite area of the head and interfering with the waves from the first resonator. The interference between the waves creates a stationary field which increases the permeability of the skin, enabling a device with a reduced size to be incorporated into a wearable.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2021Publication date: August 3, 2023Applicants: Medicsensors Limited, Agencia Estatal Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas, M.P.Inventors: Eduardo Walther Jorgensen de Vizacarrondo, Jose Carlos Montesinos Perez, Juan Cesar de Mercado Santamarta, Francisco Ramon Montero de Espinosa Freijo
