Abstract: Method of making BTX compounds including benzene, toluene, and xylene, including feeding heavy reformate to a reactor containing a composite zeolite catalyst. The composite zeolite catalyst includes a mixture of layered mordenite (MOR-L) comprising a layered or rod-type morphology with a layer thickness less than 30 nm and ZSM-5. The MOR-L, the ZSM-5, or both include one or more impregnated metals. The method further includes producing the BTX compounds by simultaneously performing transalkylation and dealkylation of the heavy reformate in the reactor. The composite zeolite catalyst is able to simultaneously catalyze both the transalkylation and dealkylation reactions.

Abstract: The present application provides novel compositions and methods for treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Compounds of the invention are acid ceramidase inhibitors, reduce AML cell viability, inhibit AML cell proliferation, increase cell death of AML cells, and induce apoptosis in AML cells. A primary compound of the invention is SACLAC: 2-chloro-N-((2S,3R)-1,3-dihydroxyoctadecan-2-yl)acetamide. The bromine analog of SACLAC (SABRAC: 2-bromo-N-((2S,3R)-1,3-dihydroxyoctadecan-2-yl)acetamide) is also useful for treating AML. SACLAC has much better activity than other know drugs used to treat AML.

Abstract: A system and method for generating ultra-short pulses intended to be inserted into a ring laser with a regulator of a pulsed signal of a certain intensity, the system includes an optical attenuator that allows the intensity of the pulsed signal to be adjusted at the input of an optical guide section, and a distributed amplification device inserted in the optical guide that make it possible to manage the power of the signal therein, so that it propagates as solitons or as self-similar pulses without suffering unwanted distortions despite the increase in the length of the laser cavity, increasing the power of the pulsed signal and making it possible to exceed the usual power limits of this type of laser.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for estimating a full shape of a lens of an eye from measurements of the lens taken in-vivo by optical imaging techniques, the measurements comprising visible portions of the lens, the method comprises defining non-visible portions of the lens parting from the in-vivo measurements and using a geometrical model of a lens previously built from ex-vivo measurements. The full shape parameters of the crystalline lens can be estimated in the present invention from optical imaging techniques to improve the estimation of the IOL position and thus the IOL power selection.

Abstract: The invention relates to an internal combustion engine that comprises a first Brayton cycle comprising a mixed ionic-electronic conducting (MIEC) membrane that separates the O2 from the air such that the suctioned air current is free from N2; a second Brayton cycle combined in a binary manner with the first Brayton cycle and nested with a cycle selected from an Otto cycle and a diesel cycle performed by means of oxy-combustion. The second Brayton cycle transmits mechanical energy and thermal energy from exhaust gases to the first Brayton cycle. The first Brayton cycle provides to the second Brayton cycle compressed O2 from the MIEC membrane. By means of the present engine, the NOx emission into the atmosphere is prevented by the separation of N2 in the MIEC membrane.
