Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for displaying an image of the surroundings of a combination of two vehicles that are coupled to one another. According to the invention, image data is sensed by sensors on both of the combined vehicles. Taking into account the three-dimensional position of the vehicles relative to one another, the image data is then combined so as to obtain a common image of the surroundings. The obtained common image of the surroundings allows a driver/operator to efficiently and safely perceive the surroundings around the entire vehicle combination.

Abstract: A method and a device for determining a warning condition on the basis of brake light detection. Image data are received from a front camera of a vehicle. It is determined whether a brake light of a preceding vehicle is active. An initiation threshold is lowered or a confidence value is raised if the brake light is active. An estimated risk value is derived from the image data of the front camera and a warning signal is produced, if the estimated risk value exceeds the initiation threshold.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a control system and to a device for an ego-vehicle in a vehicle convoy in the case of the avoidance of an obstacle. Before the ego-vehicle follows an adopted avoidance trajectory of a vehicle driving in front, a hazard evaluation of the driving strategy of the vehicle driving in front is performed and the avoidance trajectory is modified on the basis of the result of the hazard evaluation.
Abstract: A mirror substitute device for a vehicle has at least one camera designed to cover at least a part of the surroundings of the vehicle and to provide a corresponding image signal, an image processing device coupled to the camera and designed to process the image signal and to output a processed image signal, and at least one display device designed to display the processed image signal.
Abstract: In a method of determining the distance of an object (10), a polarization-modulated transmission light beam (LS) is reflected at the object (10) and is received as a reception light beam (LE) by a polarization analyzer, and the output signal thereof is fed to an evaluation unit (A) for determining the distance. The polarization-modulated transmission light beam (LS) is generated by at least two light sources (D1, D2, D3) which emit differently polarized light beams (L1, L2, L3), wherein the light sources (D1, D2, D3) are each respectively operated with a distinct defined mark-space pattern (M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6). The polarization analyzer has polarization filters (P1, P2, P3) corresponding at least to the number of light sources. The respective polarization plane of each one of the polarization filters is correspondingly adapted to a respective polarization plane (E1, E2, E3) of the light beams (L1, L2, L3).
Abstract: In one exemplary embodiment, an arrangement for protecting electronics from interference radiation includes a housing and a circuit carrier for accommodating the electronics in an interior of the housing. The housing defines an opening for compensating the different pressures inside and outside the housing. The arrangement of the exemplary embodiment is also distinguished by a contact-making element of an electronic component of the electronics arranged between the opening and the circuit carrier in such a manner that the electronics are at least partially screened from interference radiation entering the housing through the opening.
Abstract: A method and a device are disclosed for warning a driver of a first vehicle when the first vehicle is located in a blind spot of a second vehicle. The method includes recording the surrounding area in front of and alongside the first vehicle using a sensor, classifying objects in the recorded surrounding area, determining a relative position of an object classified as a second vehicle in relation to the first vehicle using the sensor, calculating the area of a blind angle on the basis of the determined relative position of the object in relation to the first vehicle, checking whether the first vehicle is located in the calculated area of the blind angle, and generating a warning signal for the driver of the first vehicle when the first vehicle is located in the calculated area of the blind angle.

Abstract: A lane change from a lane which is currently being travelled in by the motor vehicle to an adjacent lane is carried out autonomously if a recommendation to change the lane is output by a control device. The recommendation to change from a relatively fast lane to a slower lane is out-put by the control device if (1) a lane change is possible without putting at risk the motor vehicle and/or another vehicle travelling on the slower lane, (2) the motor vehicle is not being prevented from travelling at a predefined speed by another vehicle travelling ahead in the lane which is currently being travelled in, and (3 ) no other vehicle which is travelling at a higher speed than the speed of the motor vehicle is detected in the slower lane at a specific distance behind the motor vehicle.

Abstract: The present invention provides to a recording apparatus and method for recording data, in particular video data associated with a vehicle. Video data are only recorded, as long as a predefined trigger event is true. Upon detecting such a trigger event, the trigger event is further analyzed and the recording of the video data is immediately stopped when it is detected that the trigger event is no longer valid. In this way, the recording of the video data can be limited for reducing the amount of video data to be stored. According to further embodiments, the amount of video data to be recorded can be further minimized by adapting the video frame rate, the resolution, and compression rate or color format of the video data.
