  • Patent number: 5794821
Abstract: A manually operated pump comprises a pump housing and a plunger. The pump housing has a pump chamber and an intake port. The plunger extends into the pump chamber. A piston is on the plunger and is reciprocally and axially slidable within the pump chamber between a bottom stroke position and a top stroke position. The fluid pump further includes a priming valve, a check valve, a sealing plug, and a plug seat. The priming valve permits fluid to flow upward through the pump chamber when the piston stroke moves the piston downward from the top stroke position toward the bottom stroke position, and prevents fluid from flowing upward through the pump chamber when the piston stroke moves the piston upward from the bottom stroke position toward the top stroke position. The check valve has a valve seat and a moveable valve member moveable between a closed position in which the moveable valve member moveable between seated and unseated positions.

  • Patent number: 5762236
Abstract: A trigger sprayer comprises a dispenser body, a pump mechanism adjacent the dispenser body, and a trigger adjacent the pump mechanism. The pump mechanism including a pump element moveable relative to the dispenser body between first and second positions. The trigger is connected to the pump element and moveable between first and second positions wherein movement of the trigger to its first position causes movement of the pump element to its first position and movement of the trigger to its second position causes movement of the pump element to its second position. The trigger sprayer is configured so that a first application of force by a user is needed to move the trigger from the first position to the second position and a second application of force by a user is needed to move the trigger from the second position to the first position. The trigger has first and second finger engaging portions and a finger receiving opening for receiving at least one finger of a user.

  • Patent number: 5755384
Abstract: A fluid dispenser is used to dispense a foaming liquid from a container either as a spray or as a foam. The dispenser comprises a housing attached to a container of the liquid, a nozzle connected to the housing, a passage extending from the container interior to the nozzle orifice, a pump positioned along the passage, a valve positioned along the passage, and a foam generator attached to the nozzle. The nozzle has an orifice through which the fluid substance is dispensed. The valve is configured for alternating movement between an open and a closed position. The foam generator is configured to move with respect to the nozzle between a foaming position and a non-foaming position and is located adjacent the nozzle orifice when in the foaming position and remote from the orifice when in the non-foaming position. Alternatively, the fluid dispenser is used to dispense a liquid from a container either as a spray or as a stream.

  • Patent number: 5715974
Abstract: A liquid dispenser comprising a dispenser body having a pump mechanism defining a variable volume fluid receiving cavity. A cylindric formation, smaller than the fluid receiving cavity, is within the cavity and a vent passageway is in fluid communication with the cylindric formation. A plunger is reciprocally moveable within the cylindric formation and is configured for moving with the pump mechanism as the pump mechanism is moved between extended and contracted positions. The plunger and cylindric formation are configured such that the vent passageway is in fluid communication with the fluid receiving cavity of the pump mechanism when the pump mechanism is in its contracted position and is configured to block fluid communication between the vent passageway and the fluid receiving cavity when the pump mechanism is in its extended position.
