  • Patent number: 5549249
Abstract: The construction of a nozzle head for a trigger sprayer apparatus and the constructions of several variant embodiments of fluid spinners that are assembled into the nozzle head facilitate the assembly of the spinners into the nozzle head with fluid swirl chambers of the spinners centered relative to a fluid discharge orifice of the nozzle head. The swirl chamber of each spinner assembly is surrounded by an annular wall and the end face of the annular wall engages against a flat orifice wall surrounding the sprayer discharge orifice thereby sealing the swirl chamber around the orifice. Tangential grooves through the annular wall provide the only path of fluid flow into the swirl chamber.

  • Patent number: 5540360
Abstract: A sprayer assembly operable in an upright and an inverted position for dispensing liquid from a container. The assembly has a housing having an outlet passage, an outlet orifice through which liquid is dispensed, a pump element having a pump chamber within said housing, a primary passage for delivering liquid from the container to the pump chamber with the sprayer in the upright position, and a secondary passage for delivering liquid from the container to the pump chamber with the sprayer in the inverted position. Valves within the housing allow liquid to flow through the primary passage and into the pump chamber and inhibit fluid flow through the secondary passage into the pump chamber upon a reduction of pump chamber pressure with the sprayer in the upright position; and allow liquid to flow through the secondary passage and into the pump chamber and inhibit fluid flow through the primary passage into the pump chamber upon a reduction of pump chamber pressure with the sprayer in the inverted position.

  • Patent number: 5513800
Abstract: A low cost trigger sprayer has a housing with a first liquid passage containing a spinner assembly. An elastomeric pump element is positioned generally horizontally such that pulling the trigger retracts the element and releasing the trigger allows the element to extend. The sprayer includes a low cost spinner assembly and low cost valving to control the flow of liquid within the sprayer. In one aspect of the invention, the housing has front and rear sections with the rear section having a saddle portion and being hinged to the front section for pivotal movement from an open position for molding the housing to a closed position for operating the sprayer. In another aspect of the invention, the container has a rear portion which extends upwardly past the neck and defining a saddle recess, with the housing connected to the neck of the container and positioned forwardly of the upwardly extending container portion.

  • Patent number: 5499766
Abstract: A nozzle assembly for a trigger sprayer having a cap rotatable relative to a housing to establish the spray character of the fluid discharged and a slot and cam follower connection between the trigger sprayer housing and the cap with the cam shaped to impart an "off" condition, a gradually increasing spray condition, a combination spray and stream condition of gradually reversed relative influence, and a stream only condition. The different flow conditions are established by the interrelationship between a spinner head section and the cap that is rotatable along a path controlled by the cam and cam follower.

  • Patent number: 5485942
Abstract: A dispenser assembly for dispensing liquid from a container has a dispenser operable remotely from the container by way of a tube communicating the dispenser and the liquid within the container. The dispenser assembly has a hand-held dispenser and a tube connected to the dispenser for extension into the liquid within the container. The dispenser is operable to dispense liquid from the container by way of the tube. An adaptor is secured to the container with the tube operable for extending from the dispenser, through the adaptor, and into the container. With the dispenser disconnected from the adaptor and with the adaptor secured to the container, the dispenser may be operated remotely from the container to dispense the liquid from the container. The container has a crown formed in a top wall which projects adjacent to and beyond the dispenser when the dispenser is secured to the container top wall.

  • Patent number: 5481826
Abstract: An improved planter apparatus for holding soil and plants and the like comprising a container and a base releasably securable to the bottom of the container. The container and base are provided with press-fit locking means for connecting the base to the container. The base is convertible such that it functions as a tray in an upright configuration and as a pedestal when inverted. Downwardly depending capillary wells project from the bottom of the container into association with reservoirs disposed within the base in both of its convertible configurations. The dimension of the base is such that, when the base is attached to the container in its upright configuration, multiple planters can be nested. The nestability of the apparatus provides for convenient handling of multiple planters as well as commercial packaging and transportation cost benefits.

  • Patent number: 5425482
Abstract: A low cost trigger sprayer has a housing with a first liquid passage containing a spinner assembly. A pump element is positioned generally horizontally such that pulling the trigger contracts or retracts the element and releasing the trigger permits the element to return to an extended position. An elastomeric spring is positioned between the housing and pump element to improve the return characteristics of the pump element.
