Abstract: A terminator for a CAN bus includes an electronic relay and a termination impedance. The electronic relay has first and second control input conductors and switched output conductors. The electrical connection between the switched output conductors is normally closed. The first control input conductor is connected to the power conductor and the second control input conductor is connected to a fifth terminal of the first CAN bus connector. The termination impedance is connected in series at the end node of the CAN bus with the switched output conductors across the high data conductor and the low data conductor. By this arrangement, the termination impedance is effectively connected across the high data conductor and the low data conductor at the end node of the CAN bus until an extension of the CAN bus is plugged into the first CAN bus connector. When an extension of the CAN bus is plugged into the first CAN bus connector, the fifth terminal of the CAN bus connector is connected to the ground conductor.

Abstract: A pull-down control process for a chiller system is provided. The pull-down control process can override the capacity control process for the chiller system to pull-down the leaving chilled liquid temperature faster than the capacity control process. The pull-down control process can maintain pre-rotation vanes in a fully open position to pull-down the leaving chilled liquid temperature as quickly as possible to a predetermined setpoint.

Abstract: A system for cancelling or attenuating noise in at least two positive displacement compressors proximately located from each other for use with a heating or cooling system. A lead compressor and a lag compressor have a controllable rotational speed and phase of operation. A controller selectably controls the rotational speed and the phase of operation of each of the compressors. The controller controls the rotational speed of the compressors at substantially the same speed for each compressor, with a phase-lock loop and a comparator circuit for each compressor. The controller controls the phase of operation of the compressors through an oscillator so that the lead and lag compressor pressure pulses are spaced between successive outlet pressure pulses to effectively double the combined pulsation frequency for noise attenuation.

Abstract: Systems and/or methods that facilitate efficiently controlling speed of an induction motor are presented. An optimized control component controls respective switching of an auxiliary switch component associated with an auxiliary winding of the motor, a main switch component associated with a main winding of the motor, and a capacitance adjuster switch component that facilitates adjusting the amount of capacitance associated with the auxiliary winding. The timing of switching on the auxiliary switch component and main switch component can be controlled such that there can be a time difference between the respective switching on of the auxiliary switch component and main switch component to produce additional phase shift to facilitate improving motor efficiency. The capacitance adjuster switch component can be switched on when motor speed is below a predetermined low speed threshold to facilitate increasing the amount of capacitance associated with the auxiliary winding to improve motor efficiency.

Abstract: The present invention involves a lighting kit adapted for installation into a conventional fluorescent lighting unit having a fluorescent socket and a ballast disposed in the lighting unit. At least one elongated body has fixture ends configured to engage a fluorescent socket. The elongated body supports a plurality of light emitting diodes (LEDs). A control unit, capable of receiving exterior control signals, electrically connects the LEDs to a power source for selectively dimming the LEDs, and is adapted to be mounted in place of the ballast. Dimming may be accomplished by control circuitry that recognizes repeated switching of a power source, and/or by a dipswitch on the LED device that sets the dim level. A method of retrofitting a fluorescent housing unit involves installing a LED device in the fluorescent housing unit and mounting an LED driver in the location configured to receive a conventional fluorescent ballast.
