  • Patent number: 10708004
Abstract: An infrastructure equipment of a wireless communications network is configured to transmit signals to one or more communications devices via a wireless access interface, and to receive signals from one or more of the communications devices via the wireless access interface. The wireless access interface provides communications resources arranged in time divided units of a carrier frequency bandwidth providing a plurality of blocks of communications resources, each of the time divided units comprising on a downlink of the wireless access interface a control channel for transmitting control channel messages and a shared channel, the control channel message allocating communications resources of the shared channel to the communications devices to receive the signals from the one or more infrastructure equipment.

  • Patent number: 10708885
Abstract: CoAP network nodes may leverage context awareness to take autonomous action to adjust network operations. Context-aware procedures may be pre-configured, established by management entities, or negotiated between nodes, and include parameters for the monitoring and evaluation of data, as well has triggers for taking action. By monitoring requests to observe a resource, a node may determine when a resource should transition to multicast or unicast notification, and dynamically manage multicast group membership based on observation registrations and/or cancellations. By monitoring resource requests, a proxy may determine when to proactively refresh a cached representation of a resource. By monitoring timeouts and/or retransmissions, a client may dynamically adjust a timeout value to optimize communications.

  • Patent number: 10693613
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system supports a DRX operating mode for communications between a base station and terminal device, which includes a regular repeating cycle of DRX inactive periods when the terminal device monitors a downlink channel from the base station and DRX active periods when the terminal device enters a power-saving mode not monitoring the downlink channel. The terminal device transmits uplink signaling, triggering subsequent downlink signaling, that may include acknowledgement signalling for a previous downlink transmission or an uplink transmission resources request. The base station receives the uplink signalling, determines time of an upcoming DRX inactive period for the terminal device, and delays transmitting downlink signalling responding to the uplink signalling until the upcoming DRX inactive period.

  • Patent number: 10687354
Abstract: Current approaches to transmitting uplink data in a network often require resources to be granted. In an example, a node or apparatus may configure a plurality of devices to operate in a grant-less mode in accordance with a respective grant-less access allocation. Grant-less operations may be managed, for example, to meet the reliability and latency requirements and battery life requirements for different types of devices. For example, the state transition between grant-less and grant based may be managed.

  • Patent number: 10687326
Abstract: A method of operating a base station in a wireless telecommunications system. Downlink communications from the base station to terminal devices are made using a plurality of OFDM sub-carriers spanning a system frequency bandwidth. The base station supports communications with a first type of terminal device on a host carrier using OFDM sub-carriers distributed across the system frequency bandwidth and supports communications with a second type of terminal device on a restricted bandwidth carrier using OFDM subcarriers distributed across a restricted frequency bandwidth which is smaller than and within the system frequency bandwidth. Respective base stations can exchange information regarding their restricted bandwidth carrier transmissions to help them coordinate their respective transmissions with a view to reducing intercell interference.

  • Patent number: 10667229
Abstract: A service layer entity (e.g., application entity, common service entity in oneM2M, also referred to as registree entity) may register to another service layer entity (e.g., common service entity in oneM2M, also referred to as a registrar entity) and proactively request to gain access to the local services hosted by the registrar entity. A registrar entity may accept a registree entity's registration request but only grant access of its partial services to the registree entity. If a registree entity does not need to proactively request the services within its registration request message, the registrar entity decides what services may be needed by the registree entity and grants access of those services to the registree entity.

  • Patent number: 10652857
Abstract: A method of communicating data between a base station and a plurality of terminal devices in a wireless telecommunications system. The method comprises transmitting data from the base station to the plurality of terminal devices in a multicast transmission and transmitting response signals from the terminal devices to the base station to indicate whether the respective terminal devices have successfully received the multicast transmission. The use of a multicast transmission provides an efficient mechanism for communicating the same data to a plurality of terminal device, for example as might be desired in a machine-type communication network.

  • Patent number: 10645652
Abstract: A communications device establishes a communications context for communicating data packets using a packet communications bearer from the communications device via the mobile communications network. A controller of the communications device is configured to identify that the communications device can enter a stasis state because no data packets are available for transmission for a predetermined time via the packet communications bearer or there are no data packets to receive via the packet communications bearer, to transmit a stasis state message to the mobile communications network, and to store information relating to the communications context associated with the packet communications bearer in a data store. The stored information can be used by the controller to re-establish the packet communications bearer to transmit and/or receive data packets using the packet communications bearer, the communications device thereby entering the stasis state.

  • Patent number: 10644940
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses associated with the service layer may provide clustering management capabilities for sensor nodes in M2M/IoT SL platforms, via conventional clustering algorithm reselection and performance optimization, which may be based on service layer analytics. Clustering functionality may be adapted not only within the individual network model and optimization goals employed by each conventional clustering algorithm, but the conventional clustering algorithms themselves may be changed or reconfigured using service layer functionality. These re-configurations may be based on analytics indicating that performance of a sensor node is sub-optimal and may occur within a significantly larger time scale when compared to dynamic routing decisions on a per-message basis.

  • Patent number: 10638289
Abstract: Some services offered by M2M service layers will have contact information that will be used in order to interact with applications. For example, a service layer may need to send notification messages to an application. To do this, the service layer relies on stored contact information to know how to reach the application. If the device hosting the application moves and the application changes its contact information, then the contact information that is in the service layer is stale. As a result, these services will be inefficient, or in some cases, fail altogether. Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods to enable mechanisms to update stale contact information in M2M service layers.

  • Patent number: 10637836
Abstract: Existing approaches to security within network, for instance one M2M networks, are limited. For example, content might only be protected while the content is in transit between entities that trust each other. Here, the integrity and the confidentiality of content in an M2M network are protected. Such content may be “at rest,” such that the content is stored at a hosting node. Only authorized entities may store and retrieve the data that is stored at the hosting node, and the data may be protected from a confidentiality perspective and an integrity perspective.
