  • Patent number: 11102213
Abstract: Current discovery mechanisms lack capabilities, such as capabilities related to permissions associated with a given registrant for example. In an example embodiment, a registrant of a service layer can communicate with a network node that hosts the service layer. The network node may receive a discovery request for a resource from the registrant. The discovery may request include various context. For example, the context of the discovery request may be indicative of an operation that the registrant intends to perform on the resource, a role that the registrant intends to assume if the registrant accesses the resource, a location in which the registrant intends to access the resource, or a subscription plan that the registrant intends to use if the registrant accesses the resource. Based on the context of the discovery request, the network node may determine whether one or more resources at the service layer satisfy the discovery request.

  • Patent number: 11093556
Abstract: Access control for RESTful operations may be provided to a centralized semantic graph store. In addition, operations may be provided over semantic triples distributed in a resource tree database. In an example, an system may use semantic descriptors distributed in hierarchical resource trees mechanisms for maintaining semantic descriptors relationship information. The mechanisms enable semantic queries to be performed within the context of specific graphs by using specific sets of sematic descriptors together. The mechanism which uses the formation of a group for semantic operation purposes also enables the use of the group resource in order to fan out semantic requests to members of the group, including members located on different service entities.

  • Patent number: 11083033
Abstract: The standards organization 3GPP is exploring new small data delivery techniques for machine-type communications (MTC). It is recognized herein that existing approaches leave the “small data” decision to the service capability server (SCS) for downlink data and to the user equipment (UE) for uplink data. A user equipment (UE) or the core network can identify the services (or flows) that should be characterized as Small Data, and can make decisions as to when to employ optimized Small Data procedures.

  • Patent number: 11076013
Abstract: A new semantic mashup architecture with modular design can comprise separate Semantic Mashup Profiles (SMPs), Virtual Semantic Mashup Resources (VSMRs), and Semantic Mashup Results (SMRSs). This kind of modular design greatly improves the reusability of SMPs, VSMRs, and SMRSs. In addition, this new mashup architecture leverages semantics during each mashup process, which increases the interoperability. Moreover, this new architecture essentially realizes new Semantic Mashup Service (SMS) at the service layer and consequently improves system efficiency.

  • Patent number: 11070426
Abstract: Service Layer adaptation may be realized through one or more adaptation rules that are programmed by server administrators in a structured but flexible manner. As part of integrating the adaptive control into its operations, a Service Layer may be configured to provide the capability to receive requests in which an adaptation rule may be specified, to provide indications through response codes returned to requestors that the Service Layer is not able to process a request due to a reduced functional state, and to send a request for more server resources or move an application, a service, or a service instance to another platform.

  • Patent number: 11064330
Abstract: A Delay Indicator parameter is contained in CoAP messages to reflect delay tolerance information. The Delay Indicator is leveraged by CoAP Clients and CoAP Servers to improve their behavior such as entering sleep mode to save energy while not violating delay requirements. A timeout mechanism for CoAP Response is enabled by a RESPONSE_Timer based on the Delay Indicator in CoAP ACK. Cancellation of CoAP Requests is enabled by leveraging the delay tolerance information as indicated by Delay Indicator.

  • Patent number: 11051293
Abstract: New radio download numerology allocation information may be obtained through master information block data, system information block data, radio resource control signals, or signals or a physical downlink numerology indication channel, and used along with a reference signal detected in a search space to obtain resource element positions in an antenna port reference signal in a resource block that belongs to a particular band slice according to a reference signal allocation scheme for a band slice numerology. A physical download control may then be decoded based upon one or more resource elements of the reference signal, allowing the connection of, e.g., an enhanced mobile broadband, massive machine type communication, or ultra-reliable/low-latency application to a communications network thereby. Alternatively, multiple physical downlink control channels may be blindly demodulated at each of a number calculated reference signal locations, and one channel selected based on passing a cyclic redundancy check.

  • Patent number: 11032706
Abstract: Multi-RAT UEs currently have 2 independent paths to authenticate with HSS (either via the MME or the 3GPP AAA Server causing repeated authentication messages to HSS. The use of one unified authentication path between the UE and HSS for Small Cell and Wi-Fi authentication is described. First, a new 3GPP EPC-TWAN interworking architecture has the MME manage all the authentication requests from multi-RAT UEs. Second, new unified authentication procedures are added, which allow the ISWN-based multi-RAT UE to be authenticated directly with the HSS, irrespective of its current access network (TWAN or HeNB). Third, new fast re-authentication procedures for Inter-RAT handover scenarios are done. Finally, the needed extensions to the various standard protocol messages to execute the authentication procedures are described.

  • Patent number: 11032685
Abstract: Some services offered by M2M service layers will have contact information that will be used in order to interact with applications. For example, a service layer may need to send notification messages to an application. To do this, the service layer relies on stored contact information to know how to reach the application. If the device hosting the application moves and the application changes its contact information, then the contact information that is in the service layer is stale. As a result, these services will be inefficient, or in some cases, fail altogether. Embodiments described herein provide systems and methods to enable mechanisms to update stale contact information in M2M service layers.

  • Patent number: 11032739
Abstract: A header compression indicator may be used to enable header compression between a device and a gateway and between end devices in a network of constrained devices. The header compression indicator may be used to signal that header compression is in use, along with which context is to be used, and parameters thereof. The header compression indicator may also be used to trigger creation, update, retrieval, or deletion of a header compression context dynamically. A header context data format may be used to convey the encoding of header option information and corresponding data used in the management of the header compression contexts. Header compression contexts may be created, modified, queried, or deleted dynamically via existing messaging frameworks and operations, e.g., by appending a header compression indicator to existing standard messages.
