The invention enables a user to manipulate displayed media content and other types of information stored in a personal media device. A master device may be coupled to a display device such as a television display and bonded to a slave device. A user may through use of either the slave device or the master device manipulate media content. The modified media content may be displayed substantially simultaneously on the television display, the master device, and the at least one slave device.

The method features a step of adapting or transforming the content in the network proxy based on one or more digital rights issued by the owner of the content. The network proxy includes an adaption policy module that receives the digital rights and provides an adaption policy; and an adaption engine module that receives the adaption policy and the content from the content provider, and provides adapted content to the terminal. In operation, the network proxy uses the digital rights to determine an optimal adaptation policy and then uses that to transform the content.

The selection element is configured to select a subset including less than all of candidate pixel locations from among a plurality of candidate pixel locations used for motion vector determination based on a relationship between a best candidate pixel location of a first level of accuracy and a best candidate pixel location of a second level of accuracy.
